Lemuel is a native of North Carolina, but spent a portion of his adolescent years in California before returning in 1995. Upon his return, he was introduced to southern gospel music as his mother took him and his siblings to church on Sundays. Subsequently, he developed a passion for the piano and admired singing that evoked emotions that pierced your soul. With much perseverance and determination he began working on various projects honing his skills.Through his collegiate years, Lemuel strayed away from the music, but it never left his heart. After relocating and enrolling in graduate school in New York City, Lemuel has returned to his greatest love. In January 2008, through deep contemplation and encouragement from friends, he has been steering his way back into music.
Lemuel's music reaches back to the soul of southern roots and the truth that lies in the messages he heard every Sunday growing up. His music reaches back to experiences that taught him how culture, education, and motivation are vital for survival. As a graduate student focusing on education policy, he hopes to conceive music that educates, inspires, and provokes innovative energy. Ultimately, he only contends that his music speaks about life in all its love, anguish, lessons, and the memories it creates. He brings a vibrant acoustic sound as he strums his guitar with a soulful historical voice that parallels the life of blacks in the south that yearned for freedom.
