About Me

Name: Hunter Brown aka HB
Age: Eighteen (Born October 8th, 1990)
From: Denver, CO
Credentials: Ghostwriter, up and coming artist/producer/actor.
Early Life: HB (full name Hunter Louis Brown) was born and raised in the city of Denver, Colorado. Like many other superstars, he grew up in the church performing in numerous ways, discovering his talents at a very young age. As he grew into his teenage years, he began writing songs and won awards from the GMA. At the age of 15, he was recording with Aftermath Entertainment hit-maker Kirv (a protégé of Dr. Dre). He also performed with hip-hop legend Kurtis Blow in LA around the same time. The next year, HB spent seven months in Los Angeles in artist development, recording over 20 songs with producer Sundafu and working grueling hours. Through some extensive networking, HB hooked up with producers Frank E (Red Hot Beats) and Fingazz (Streetlight Productions) and created the blazing hot tracks “I Like the Way”, “Girl Crazy” and “Countdown”. Jeff Fenster, VP of A&R at Jive records nicknamed him “Baby Beckham”.
Influences: HB lists Kanye West, Jay-Z, T.I, Fabolous and Diddy as his primary influences because of their business savvy work-ethic, swagger, flow and word choice.
Question and Answer with HB:
Q: What do you like to do more, produce or rap?
A: They go hand in hand; I can’t do without both of them.
Q: What is your favorite song?
A: I have way too many favorite songs to name just one, but my favorite song right now is “Roc Boys (And the winner is…)” by Jay-Z.
Q: How old are you?
A: Eighteen.
Q: What inspired you to make music?
A: The first record that made me want to become who I am was Nelly “Ride wit me”, I remember listening to that song in like 3rd grade over and over and telling myself “I’ll be doing this someday”. But other than that, experiences inspire me to write and watching people do their thing also excites me to get on stage. There’s truly nothing like performing.
Q: Why do you make music and why did you choose this industry?
A: Honestly I didn’t choose this industry, this industry chose me. If you told me I’d be where I’m at right now three years ago I would have laughed at you and told you to walk it out (laughs). And I make music because its emotional medicine, it’s the antidote to people’s broken hearts and minds. Music is powerful. No matter what time of day it is, I can turn on a song that’s gonna speak to me at that moment. So I want to make music thats going to make the girls go crazy and the clubs bounce, but at the same time I want to make music thats going to make people think.
Q: What would you be doing if you weren’t in the music business?
A: I’d be in high school playing on the basketball team, getting into trouble like every other teenager (laughs).
Q: What’s your favorite studio to record in?
A: I’ve recorded at so many studios. In LA I like Westlake and Atlantis, they keep their production top notch and their equipment up to date. My favorite studio though is Side 3 Studios in Denver, because I can sleep in my own bed at night and the production is as good as it gets. They provide pro-tools and everything else I need to get my work done and they just added another studio upstairs so I'm always getting busy over there.
Q: What is your favorite record you’ve recorded so far?
A: “Countdown”, the 808 is knocking and the detail of sounds emphasized in the record is amazing. It’s just a catchy, summertime club banger. Shout out to my man Fingazz, we murdered it! I'm working on some crazy joints right now though, I got one coming called "Barbie Baby" thats in the final stages of mixing so I'm bringing the heat like summertime. Get ready for it.
Q: Just to clear things up for the ladies out there, are you single?
A: Yea. I'm not in a rush or anything but I always keep my eyes open because I want to find somebody special eventually.
This is a video of me and my good friend Lauren London. You've probably seen her in the Sean John ad's or the movies "ATL" with T.I and "This Christmas" with Chris Brown. I was sixteen here! Can you tell?
