My Interests

Writing, hiking, reading, apparel design, dressing up in costumes for no reason at all, dancing and cheese…all at the same time. Improperly using ellipses where commas and periods should be and overusing parentheses. I love constant change and get restless easily. Travel is my ultimate passion. I’ve worked and studied in Scotland, Germany, Ireland and Italy and hope that is only the beginning of my stints abroad. I love learning about cultural differences and the idiosyncrasies that seem strange to us but completely normal in other countries (and vice versa). I prefer oddballs and eccentric types to “normal” folk. I’m obsessed with taking photographs. I didn't inherit my dad's mad photography skills but I like snapping them to preserve the memories (since mine is shite).

Music:

Frou Frou, Stereophonics, Metric, Kate Nash, Ryan Adams, Negramaro, Spoon, Razorlight, HIM, David Gray, Counting Crows, The Killers, James Blunt, Mariah (Kate, you've finally converted me and I hate myself for it), Lil Wayne, Hard-Fi, Simon and Garfunkel, Damien Rice, Coldplay, Jimmy Eat World, Third Eye Blind, Dave Mathews, bagpipes (I'm sick), and basically anything I can dance too...if it's got a good beat, I'm a happy girl.

Movies:

Much Ado About Nothing, Lagerfeld Confidential, Grey Gardens, Pride and Prejudice (BBC series), Before Sunset, Best In Show, Chocolat, Once, Labyrinth (yeah to David Bowie singing "Magic Dance" in spandex), Romeo and Juliet, Office Space, Easy, Dangerous Beauty, anything on WWII or Vietnam, Superbad, Love Actually, The Holiday, Super Troopers, Old School, Jarhead, The Last of the Mohicans, Braveheart, Bridget Jones Diary, In America, Zoolander, Ever After, Crash....

Television:

Love Brittish comedy...Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps, Posh Nosh, My Family, Little Britain, Ali G Show, Only Fools and Horses...and I admit it, Flavor of Love was my extremely guilty pleasure.

Books:

A Month Among The Men (Maryse Choisy is my hero). Anything by Laurie Notaro or Dave Barry. Giants In The Earth, I Capture the Castle, The Other Boleyn Girl, The Private Life of Henry VIII (I'm on a Henry VIII binge), Pride and Prejudice, Evening, White Oleander, A Confederacy of Dunces, High Maintenance...etcetera, etcetera, and so on and so forth.

Heroes:

My big bro, serving his country as an Army man-nurse in Iraq...with style. Oh how I miss this guy! My parents big pimpin' in the 70's. Why did you ever retire the leisure suit dad, why?!!! Hero status achieved through raising the two fine specimen of trouble makers pictured above without beating us relentlessly or becoming alcoholics…my mouth did meet a bar of soap on more than one occasion and my baby smooth ass felt the convex side of the dreaded wooden spoon a time or two. All well deserved I’m sure. :) My mom is the most creative and strong willed woman I know and my dad is the most patient, compassionate, generous and wryly funny man I’ve ever met. Katherine of Aragon. Although she was royally screwed, (don't pardon the double pun...I friggen' love puns,) she always maintained herself with class and dignity and remained worthy of the title her husband stripped her of and later bestowed on women less worthy. I would have beat some renaissance bitches down, but I have extreme admiration for her restraint.
