Anything active...I love hiking, rock climbing and camping! I like to be challenged. I like snowboarding, waterskiing, and I have been wanting to learn to surf all of my California life. I like taking ridiculously long walks. I love art, especially modern art because it makes me laugh and makes me think. I especially like Lichtenstein, Motherwell, Jasper Johns, Gorki, Rothko, Katsushika Hokusai, Raushenburg (just cause he was so damn weird), all those crazy feminist artists (Sherman, etc..) because they're also so damn weird...Oh! and photography!..and anything at the MOCA! I could go on and on...but Ill spare you. I love going to concerts-anything indie that's new and good and at the Troubador; meeting new people (most of all those who bring something new to the table!), and, yep, reading. I love to travel. This summer I am off to Tuscany. Id love to go to Spain, England, Ireland, Africa, China....you name it. I hope to do some serous travleing as I get older and hopefully richer. I collect antique jewlery-mostly bakelite bracelets and old necklaces so far. Im planning on bringing knitting back in a big way and becoming a free lance painter and sculptor on the side. Watch for it. I am very good at technology...especially at figuring out how to work my ipod and palm pilot. I am also very good at yoga and pilates because I have excellent balance, coordination, flexibility, and super-human strength. Ask anyone. I like beer and wine , but not in any sort of problematic way...seriously. I have a passionate distaste for wine coolers and girly drinks. Its principle.
People who have some spice to them; anyone who can teach me something new and make me laugh; people who can have a good time doing just about anything; people who laugh a lot, especially at themselves; someone who is as good at technology as I am; Minny Mouse, in the early years; Keefer Sutherlandand (cause he's a fox), Lucille Ball (fifty years ago), the drummer from Tapes 'n Tapes, and, of course, Captain Planet. People who are smart and active, people who have their own personalities, and those who can hold a conversation. People who can increase my asian-ness..seriously Im obsessed. Those who do good things and give back to the world. People who like sushi, SOUP, Peeps, and candy corn. Professional kazoo artists are always welcome.
Margot and the Nuclear So & So's, The Lovely feathers, Man Man, Islands, Danielson, Raconteurs, Murs, Acealone (cant spell), The Flesh, Scissors for Lefty, The Subways, Tapes n Tapes, Hot Chip, We are Scientists (who doesn't think Keith is a fox?...let's be honest), the Postal Service, Thee More Shallows, The Like, Magic Numbers, the Rakes, Great Lake Swimmers, Lady Soverign (I'm not a speller), Okkerville River, Artic Monkeys, Art Brut, Strokes, Hard-Fi (cause Im trendy), Living Things, The Streets MIA, The Subways, Kayne (cause Im hip like that), Interpol, Arcade Fire, Phantom Planet (mmm-k?), Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, Futureheads, Shins (I will love them always and forever), White Stripes, the HIVES!, etc, etc...Iam tired of typing.
Anything that makes me laugh; Wedding Crashers, Old School, The Forty Year Old Virgin, Mean Girls, Dodgeball...pretty much anything with Will Ferrell (yeah USC!), Vince Vaughn, and Ben Stiller...I have to admit, I love the chic-y movies, You've Got Mail is a paritcular, as is The Notebook...still haven't watched that one without crying.. Dorky... I know =)
Anything that makes me laugh. Sound repetitive? Family Guy, South Park, Saturday Night Live, the Chapelle show, and Dane Cook are pretty high up there. I also have to say Grey's Anatomy, CSI and now...24 and House. Those home repair shows because they make me cry. For those of you who dont know-watch that ish...its moving. =) I also have to say that Im addicted to the news and NPR because I like knowing whats going on and kinda think everyone should.
I like fiction..Kite Runner, Middle Sex, One Hundred Years of Solitude, Known World, Death of Young Werther, The Constant Gardner, Franny and Zoey, A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius, The Curious Sound of the Dog in the Night (READ IT), If Nobody Speaks of Remarkable Things (Probably my new favorite! READ THAT TOO!!); the Authur's Juniper Lahiri, Gabriel Garcia Marquez, Irving, the poet Naruda; just read a book by Joan Didion which was heartbreaking, the Year of Magical Thinking; I think Kafka is fantastic; hate to be cliche, but the da Vinci Code was a real page turner. Those sueing him are some real bastards.Just finished Phillip Roth's The Plot Against America-very good, Angels and Demons, and Kindred. So I have finally finished Guns Germs and Steal and have awarded myself a cookie for my efforts. I have also read and recommend The Unbearable Lightness of Being. Now I am onto The Accidental-so far it is promising!
My entire family is amazing. I hate to brag, but it's true. My Mom is the kindest person you will ever meet, my Dad can be trusted to be up front and as my brother aptly says "say what he means and not feel sorry about it," (doesn't everyone need some of that in there lives?), and my brother is the funniest person I have ever met. They all have a heart of gold! My grandparents are incredible, with more stories about living in Greece and Guam, and Turkey..etc, then one has time to write about on a little My Space page. My grandpa is hilarious (especially after a couple martini's!), can fix ANYTHING, and is the most sweetest individual in the world. My grandma, couldn't be more giving and self-less. I'll always remember the time when a fire was threatening their house and instead of bring her own belongings, she stuffed the car and came over to our place with the year's Christmas presents and the quilts that she was going to leave to myself and the other granschildren. I'm getting teary just thinking about it.For all these reasons; there are no greater hero's in my life than my family!
