This is a work in progress and will receive many revisions over the next couple of days! Thanks for sticking it out with us and believing!
Attention Everyone! I’m calling out to people who possess a giving heart and a willingness to believe that you can change the world. I want you to Demonstrate Your Love.
I’m recruiting you to listen to my story, to believe in it and to help me compose a never ending book. The world needs your assistance; you need to Demonstrate Your Love.
The hopes are that Demonstrate Your Love will reach beyond your social network, that it will become something you think about on a daily basis; for society to stop being so surprised when someone expresses kindness. Or at the very least, just a positive message to remind you to just be a little nicer today and all days following.
Still interested? Let me tell you my story.
Serving in New Orleans with AmeriCorps, Summer 2007, proved to be a trying time with lots of room for personal growth. While building in musician’s village, every morning started with a motivational speech. On this particular day, Billy, our foreman, spoke of “Demonstrate Your Loveâ€.
He stood on the makeshift stage, a dumpster storage bin, looking over the day’s volunteers. As every previous morning the usual safety speech is accompanied by the motivation for the day. This particular day, he told us to Demonstrate Our Love. Demonstrate Our Love by holding a ladder, filling the water jug, offering encouraging words, endless possibilities.
I drew my own conclusions. Aside from already knowing that my heart was forever changed from my trip, I knew that others needed to reshape their heart as well.
Other Generations had a cause...ours is spoken of as failing; we’re losing sight of living and loving. Selfishness is taking over. We need to have a time out to think of others while improving ourselves. There is so much to learn through Demonstrate Your Love.
We’re a generation of disconnection. Instead of waiting until our loss of social interaction is complete, let’s get back to it. We can be the ones to redefine it.
There’s no reason to limit the Demonstration Of Love to situations that can be difficult. I ask that we demonstrate our love on a daily basis. That we use our manners and good intuition, our hands voice and heart.
With hope that we’ll have an impact, we want to share ideas in which you can Demonstrate Your Love, as a group or individual. We’d like people to be completely aware that the goodness of our heart is enough to make the world go ‘round.
For short term goals, I’d like to organize events and volunteering opportunities to meet others while offering a lending hand. Though, this is not to limit Demonstrate Your Love in group activities. There are simple ways to do this. Holding a door for someone, offering a helping hand to a neighbor, or getting to know someone you normally would not talk to, just to name a few daily activities. There is no need for an overwhelming donation of your time. A little time and a little work can make big changes.
Just Think. Every day Demonstrate Your Love!
