Cambridge Ukulele Co-op

About Me

WE ARE CUCKOO ABOUT UKES...

So if you are eccentric, a little abnormal, maybe a touch bizarre, capricious even, if you have foibles, a bit of freakishness, if you are idiosyncratic, irregular, nonconformist , odd, peculiar, quirky, singular, unconventional, wayward, whimsical, indeed cuckoo, come and join us…

Cuckoo [Cambridge Ukulele Co-operative] meet in the gig room [the Cuckoos Nest] at the Portland Arms Pub in Cambridge on alternate Sundays from 2pm through until 6pm. [see upcoming shows box above for dates]

There are no membership fees or subs just come along, bring your Uke, and have fun. The Portland also do great food and beer, so as well as playing why not have a drink and something to eat!!

We have a mixed membership from beginners through intermediary to experts so what ever level you are there will be someone around who can help with technique, repertoire etc.

We are currently gigging at local festivals etc [see upcoming shows box], we are also still looking for bookings at other venues [we will play charity/community events free, private events for a small fee to cover expenses] and can be contacted via this profile or email Neil Archer at [email protected]. [Please note due to many Cuckoos flying off on holiday we will not be able to take any bookings between now and the end of August.]

We have already played at:

The Half Moon in Bishops Stortford
BBC Radio Cambridgshire
Stortford Music Festival
Woodditon Village Fete
Race for Life Cambridge
BBC Radio Cambridgshire, yep they asked us back!

"Love Maggie Moo...I love you lot you're welcome anytime keep ukefabtabulous" Sue Marchant BBC Radio

The Ukulele is a wonderful instrument played by many famous musicians including George Harrison, Joe Brown, Brian May, John Paul Jones, Martin Taylor, Paul McCartney, that guy from Noah and the Whale and us...If you play guitar you'll take to Uke in no time, if you want to play guitar Uke is a great introduction.

CUCKOO would particularly like to thank THE PORTLAND ARMS for their excellent support.
