About Me

Created with mySpace Profile Editor Lamont Dean a.k.a. Lamon was born on the near eastside of Indianapolis, Indiana. At the early age of 3 he discovered his talent for dancing, and his powerful pop style voice came shortly after. As the youngest of his siblings, Lamon idolized artists like Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder, and Marvin Gaye. At the age of 11 he began his road to stardom. Lamon and four other talented youth known as The Bomb Squad received a recording contract from an RCA Nashville Subsidiary for their fresh new combo of a Rap and R&B act. Over the next 5 years his unique sound developed, through his words and music Lamon has the ability to uplift and inspire all who surround him. With his positive energy, heartfelt lyrics, and love for his city, the Indiana native gained the respect and honor from people of all ages and earned the name The Naptown Kid. Being among the first youth artists to shift the perception of the people and create new opportunities in such a competitive industry was only the beginning for the Naptown Kid.In June of 2003 Lamon and David Morris from LaFace Records (group A Few Good Men) began writing and producing. David reintroduced Lamon to Logic of Earcandi Productions (member of childhood group Bomb Squad) who then collaborated with Lamon on several projects. Marcus Houstons debut album MH, Wyclef Jean, Sarah Stokes from Bad Boy Ent., (DaBand), Justin Timberlakes Justified, Faith Hill, and his latest Yellow Cab, and Wyclef Jeans Group 3 on 3 just to name a few. After traveling to Brooklyn and Manhattan, hungry for his big break, Lamons success would only arise from his return home for the production of the Who I Am project and from that point on there was no stopping him. All who hear surely knows that his raw uncut talent is undeniable. With special thanks to childhood friend Mike Epps who used his celebrity status and launched his new label Naptown Records headed by his brother Tommy Epps. Being from the same mold and neighborhood he inspired Lamon to press with passion beyond beyond. Mike identified the talent surrounding the Mid-West and felt compelled to give major labels the opportunity to embark on history in the making. Like his native brethren King of Pop, Michael Jackson and Kenny Baby Face Edmonds, Lamon is destined to capture the world and set new standards for entertainment in the years to come. So let it be written the proclaimed Naptown Kid is the future of what was, is, and is to come!!

Sounds Like: Lamon's powerful vocals mixed with his smooth savvy false settle has a completely unique sound of his own, but if you must compare then it has to be with the best! His soft smooth and overwhelming false settle comes from his admiration of the master of R&B himself Marvin Gaye. His powerful pop style voice comes from his idol (the man who changed the face of music entertainment) the King of Pop Michael Jackson. His mind blowin harmony and milky bravada reminds you of Luther Vandross with his passion for love ballads. Last but certainly not least his breath taking silky smooth natural tone comes from one of R&B and Souls greatest the man himself Stevie Wonder. So like I said if you must compare then let it be the best. This is who and what you will be reminded of when you listen to this young remarkable rising star!!!!
