Young, vivacious, and talented are words that best describe the hottest new female group to take Motown by storm since the Supremes. Vicki, Jamilah, Kezia, and Fiona are the ladies of Charm. Together, the voices of these four young women create what can be only called magic. With a harmonic style of sound that belies their age, this group has all the makings of a mega group. After months of auditions and searching for the perfect talent and personality to create the perfect quartet, Brandon Fletcher, CEO of LIVE THE MUSIC GROUP, finally found what he was looking for: a girl group that was unlike anything that was in the industry today. Fiona is the quiet storm, with a soothing tone that brings life to every song. Kezia is the powerhouse that the girls affectionately refer to as the “choir boy” of the group. Jamilah brings the range and unique jazzy tone to the mix which balances out the four part harmonies. Vicki brings the lowest range with her own special light airiness. Put it all together and you get a masterful blend of musical genius. After a whirlwind year and a half of recording, grueling rehearsals, and learning the ropes, Charm is ready to take center stage. Their single “Weaker” has enjoyed regular rotation and their second single “Go Crazy” made its debut on WJLB’s “What’s Next on the Menu.” “Weaker” is a romantic ballad that tells the story of young love while weaving a medley of harmonic melody that even the most seasoned R&B lover would appreciate. “Go Crazy” is a club thumping banger that will keep people of all ages bobbing their heads. Their unique style can be heard and felt in the two releases that showcase a mature sound that transcends the generational music gap. As a young group with ages ranging from 17 to 19, these young ladies have had to learn the invaluable lesson of time management and prioritizing. “It’s hard,” they all agreed. “You have to stay focused,” Jamilah admitted, “You have to manage your time and be able to stay at the studio and record, and then make time to do your homework, actually study and still do music and everything [else] you might be involved in.” Even though it may not be easy, they are in it for the long haul. They have had their share of “haters” who don’t believe that girl groups can stay together, but the nay-sayers and being new to the industry have not stopped them from aggressively pursuing their dreams together.
