Siamgda

The Siamgda project was founded in the spring of 2000 at the foothills of the Himalayas near Kathmandu, Nepal.The story of how Siamgda came into being started with quite an ordinary trip to Nepal. At that time, Siamgda had already been engaged in making music on another project for a while, but had increasingly become dissatisfied with creating rhythms by electronic means only.In Nepal, he came to hear about a music university in an ancient Newar settlement of the Kathmandu Valley. It was there that he first heard the amazing sound of the Tabla. Siamgda knew immediately and beyond doubt that he wanted to learn to play these drums and eventually become his own personified 'drum machine'.He went back home to quit his job , soon returning to Nepal. Many years of practice in the art of playing the tabla followed ... Siamgda's musical style and material ranges from original Indian classical music to distorted industrial beats. The rhythms in this project are played by Siamgda either on the tabla or on other drums. He uses effects and electronic tools to create different arrangements and sounds.Siamgda still spends a lot of his time in India and Nepal for intensive practice.The Siamgda Debut Album is currently in progress.
