Transfer Rumors
David ‘Woolworth’s Beckham’ Bentley was going to Spurs but is now off to Liverpool as Rafa is bored of waiting for Gary Barry. Udinese full-back Andrea Dossena will join Bentley at Anfield leaving Spurs the consolation of signing Giovani does Santos and Argentine defender Daniel Diaz. Aston Villa are lining up Charleroi striker Mouhamadou Habib Habibou as they flog Marlon Harewood to Fulham.
Wigan are ready to splash £3.5million on Charles N'Zogbia. Portsmouth must battle Juventus for the signing of Nadir Belhadj and the Derby clear-out continues as Nottingham Forest sign Lewin Nyatanga and Jay McEveley joins Celtic. Charlton want Blackpool's Wes Hoolahan and potential promotion rivals Crystal Palace want to sign Jose Fonte from Benfica.
Thursday 22nd May
Transfer rumours
Steve Sidwell can end his bench warming days at Chelsea with a move to Aston Villa, whilst Everton want to sign Dudu (no change there then.) West Ham will let Ashton go to Newcastle and Anton Ferdinand to Spurs if they can make sure they get Andy Johnson and Steven Taylor to replace them. Ancient keeper Ulrich Ramé is set to be back up keeper at Liverpool, passing Steve Finnan as he goes back to Fulham.
Could the following sentence get any better: ‘Arshavin in Sven’s plans…’ and the deal could cost as much as £12 million. League One champions Swansea City are set to sign Southend midfielder Mark Gower and Paul Lembert is set to leave Wycombe to take over at Leicester. Cardiff City striker Warren Feeney is off to Millwall
Thursday 7th May
Diarra has barely unpacked his bags at Portsmouth before heading off to Spurs along with Sergio Garcia and Anton Ferdinand. Wigan will make a £4million move for Egypt striker Amr Zaky to replace Valencia as he runs off to Man United and they might even get Louis Saha thrown in to the deal. Sunderland want West Ham striker Carlton Cole and might nab Stelio Giannakopoulos and Ricardo Gardner from Bolton.
Just about every mid table team wants Stephen Carr on a free transfer after his release from Newcastle. Sheffield United and Crystal Palace are keen on Darren Huckerby after he was told his Norwich contract would not be renewed and Derby are lining up a move for Watford's Nathan Ellington who will pass Fulham full-back Moritz Volz on the way in.
Thursday 1st May
Berbatov swapped for Eto'o? We don't think so'o, but if Spurs can sign Modric then anything could happen: Like Shola Ameobi joining Stoke! More likely is Richard Dunne joining Newcastle and Arsenal grabbing Krancjar from Portsmouth. Wigan want to celebrate staying in the Premier League with a move for Man United's Darren Fletcher and West Brom will nab Manchester City youngster Gary Breen on a free. They might also nab Barnsley hero Brian Howard and Watford's Jay DeMerit. Finally Sunderland and Newcastle are set to battle it out for Celtic's Aiden McGeady as both teams look north for reinforcements.
Monday 28th April
The man with two first names Gareth Barry is set to join Liverpool this summer along with David Villa, despite the player saying he likes to watch the Arsenal. If by some miracle Ronaldinho doesn’t sign for Man City he’ll go to AC Milan along with Drogba with Chelsea also flogging Haim, Sidwell and Pizzaro. Rob Earnshaw looks certain to be dumped by Derby this summer, with Cardiff already flirting to take him on. He’ll leave the club at the same time as Giles Barnes when he joins Newcastle.
Crystal Palace are going to help Leeds clear their debts with a £1million bid for striker Jermaine Beckford whilst Jonny Evans is ready to make his loan move from Manchester United to Sunderland permanent. Amazingly for Sunderland, Keane is also after the thoroughly English pair Dan Fox and Scott Dann from Coventry.
Monday 21st April
The ‘Argos Beckham’ David Bentley is ready to quit Blackburn for a big club or maybe Spurs as they seek to replace the Liverpool bound Aaron Lennon. Bentley’s old club Arsenal is fighting off advances towards Flamini from Juventus whilst the rest of Italy is after Middlesbrough’s Tuncay… not that he’s for sale mind. Fulham are close to signing Inter Milan midfielder Luca Muscatiello for a life of motorway trips to Preston and Scunthorpe.
Hull want to sign Alonso (no not that one) from Bolton who themselves will be saying a teary farewell to El Hadji Diouf as he seeks a bigger club. Like a lot of other pensioners, Geoff Horsefield wants to retire to the coast with a two year deal at Southampton and Beckham can breathe a huge sigh of relief that the standard of the MLS will improve with the arrival of Laurent Robert.
Monday 14th April
This week it’s not Berbatov heading to AC Milan, but Drogba taking homesick teammate Shevchenko with him. Sadly he won’t be replaced by Ronaldhino or Adriano but Kalinic! Nope, us neither. John Arne Riise is fed up warming the bench so may head to Aston Villa along with Crystal Palace’s Sean Scannell. Paul Jewell is ready to offload, this time it’s Robert Earnshaw, to a team who gets promoted from the Championship. That won’t be Colchester so they’re happy to sell keeper Dean Gerken to West Ham who may well lose George McCartney to Rangers. Finally local rivals Ipswich and Norwich are scrapping over the signature of Shola Ameobi, one of many players set to leave Newcastle this summer.
