With origins as diverse as their talents, Brendan Albert (guitars, vocals), Chris Barrett (bass, vocals) and Dana Pemberton (drums, percussion) were each on their individual roads to musical freedom. Little did they know that those paths would serendipitously converge at the crossroads of Vacant City.
Formed in late 2007, the forces and wonders of nature in the west coast were clearly at work to bring this trio together. Sometimes, if you’re lucky, things just work - and if you’re truly blessed, sometimes things just work unbelievably well. That can be said about Vacant City.
With an uncanny knack for melody and a collective instinct that always seems to find the deep back pocket of any groove, Vacant City brings a sharp sense of songwriting and structure, coupled with an almost insane improvisational spirit that sometimes seems so effortless it nearly always surprises and thrills their audiences as well as the band itself. They love to play and it shows. This was undeniably obvious the very first time Brendan, Chris and Dana stepped into the rehearsal room together.
Immediately recognizing their ability to write and play great songs together, Vacant City quickly started playing their unique style of rock, performing in and around Vancouver. The band has just completed a four song EP with producing / engineering prodigy Mike Southworth of Creativ Studios in North Vancouver and now plans have been set in motion for a Canadian tour late summer / early fall 2008.
The wheels are in motion. The momentum keeps building. The course has been plotted and the
destination is clear. All signs are pointing in one direction. Vacant City awaits your arrival!
