LAUGHING WITH LULU existed in various incarnations between 2000 and 2004. They were favorably compared to Doves, Coldplay, and other other melodic rock bands. They played tons of shows around Los Angeles, Orange County, San Diego, and Santa Barbara too. In 2004, their debut album "In" was finished and released independently.
Jon Mattox who was previously known for his drumming with the Young Dubliners wrote Laughing With Lulu's music, played guitar and sang lead vocals. The Dave Grohl thing. His friends Sebastian Sheehan and Ernesto Garcia rounded out the band on drums and bass respectively.
After the release and promotion of "In", Jon and Sebastian produced the debut album "Thriftsotre Cowboy" by Jason Whitton which received rave reviews. They also recorded a track for the "Restless, Restless" compilation along with William Shatner and Robert Goulet. More info onthat here
Jon Mattox now is an active producer, composer, recording studio owner, and of course drummer (his first love) and you can see what he's up to at his studio page http://www.myspace.com/brightoragestudios.com . Many of the artists and bands that have been recording at the studio are releasing their albums on Jon's record label Bright Orange Records. More info coming soon...
