About Me

Youngest 1’s Relentlessly abrasive, unapologetically ignorant and undeniably brilliant, New Orleans rap trio Youngest 1’s (Y 1’s) live up to their name. Like mad scientists in the lab, Danger, Killer and Supa.D bring the ruckus with vivid storytelling that balances harrowing street narratives with conscious rap pride. Born and raised in the notorious St. Bernard housing projects in the city’s seventh ward, Y 1’s are a credible, gimmick-defying, no-filler group looking to translate their underground street fame into the mainstream rap game. The trio’s “get it how you live it” lifestyle provides the perfect landscape for their aggressively slick lyricism that trumps most established artists. Backed by Midas touch producer Drumma Boy (Young Jeezy, Ludacris, Rick Ross, Plies), Y 1’s stir elements of jazz, rock, funk and blues into an arbitrary mix that reflects their rich Crescent City musical heritage. Looking to be the architects of a new era of rap, Y 1’s and their label Street Money Records, are laying the blueprint for an unconventional sound that can not and will not be denied.Y 1’s were practically cliqued up from birth with Danger and Killer being brothers and Supa.D being a childhood friend, forming a bond tighter than the dreads that adorn their heads. Danger, the leader of the pack earned his title with the confident and punishing way he finesses the m-i-c. “Rhythm in music is everything,” explains the ingenious lyricist who is ‘dangerous on a beat.’ “If you don’t have rhythm, you can’t be the best entertainer. I believe you can get away with saying anything if you say it in a jazzy way but I also have the lyrical ingenuity to back up what I talk about.” With a name like Supa.D, one can only expect super things, especially if you let him tell it. “The streets named me that because I’m the best,” says the slow-flow MC. “People can relate to me because I relate to people, but at the same time I’m a little different. I bring both excitement and weirdness to the group, you never know what I might do or say.” Despite his threatening moniker, Killer is far from violent, unless you’re referring to his rhyming skills. “I’m the youngest one in charge,” says the undeniably gifted rapper with a smile. “Everything about me is so sick; my style, my laid-back attitude. Everything about me represents the struggle and the streets.” The proceed-at-you-own-risk lyricists rep the hood hard with explosive energy and relentless rhyme attacks. Each member has enough swagger, passion, personality and gumption to take artistic risks, making them all standout stars in their own right. However, collectively they shine as bright as the diamond records they intend on receiving. “We stand alone, even though we’re a group,” states Danger. “Loyalty is everything to us, so since we started together, we’re gonna finish together but we also do our solo thing to better ourselves.”The Y 1’s are indeed the young ones ranging in age from 21 to 23, who in their two decades of existence have seen and been through more than some people encounter in a lifetime. With this first-hand knowledge of inner-city gang violence, natural disasters and the devastating effects of drugs on entire communities, the impeccable MCs mix their own way of life with everyday struggles, injecting enough social commentary to make the conscious crowd comfortable. It’s that uncontainable, wide-eyed enthusiasm and tireless work ethic that will contribute to their meteoric rise, as well as the pure and potent lyrical ingenuity they stamp each track with. In their quest to create the perfect debut album, the Young 1’s are employing an ambitious strategy of diverse yet cohesive cuts that will both entertain and educate. With shine and grime, the Y 1’s are looking to cement their place in hip-hop, establishing their own identity in an assembly-line industry.
