About Me

Jermaine Mickey as a child, he was always active and wanted to learn new things. He learned to play the drums at the age of five. His family had a group called the “Stimulations.” He sang with his family until the age of 18. When he graduated from high school, he joined his cousin, Randy Gill, who formed the group II D Extreme.
Jermaine Mickey is best known as a member of the R&B Group II D Extreme which included D’Extra Wiley and Randy Gill (Brother of Legendary R&B singer, Johnny Gill). While with the group, Jermaine enjoyed success with the singles “Cry No More,” Up On The Roof,” and “If I Knew Then What I Know Now". The song “Cry No More” was certified as a gold record by the RIAA. It reached numbers 35 and 15 on the crossover chart, numbers 35 and 1 and numbers 35 and 3 on Radio & Records and Billboard Charts. It spent 4 weeks at numbers 35 and 1 on BET’s Video Soul Countdown. The streak continued at 7 weeks at numbers 35 and 1 for Jet Magazine’s Top Charts, garnered a Soul Train Music Awards Nomination and received an ASCAP Award for best urban debut song.
Jermaine’s television appearances with the group include the Jay Leno Show, Arsenio Hall Show, Soul Train, BET, MTV, Apollo and other television and live performances. With the demise of MCA, II D’s record label, the group went on a hiatus. He has traveled to Amsterdam, London, Japan, the Caribbean and Hawaii. Since that time, Jermaine has continued to use his gift performing gospel and background vocals on various projects including on Randy Gill’s upcoming solo cd. Jermaine is currently working on his first gospel cd titled “He’ll Make A Way.”
