About Me

Saxophonist, keyboardist, composer, and groove-master CHRIS BECKSTROM came to Chicago three years ago with a funky sound and a prescription for making booties move. Playing with a diverse lineup of bands including Sidewalk Chalk, Four Finger Five, Nicole Garza, and Mos Scocious, Chris has taken the city by storm in a variety of settings and musical styles.THE CHRIS BECKSTROM BAND is the brainchild of its namesake, but not a very descriptive band name. Featuring some of Chicago's best musicians, the CBB brings a heavy-hitting recipe of funk, hip-hop, afrobeat, and latin music. Simmered in a generous helping of jazz with garnishes of James Brown and Jamiroquai, the CBB knows how to rock the party and bring in the funk. ANTHONY BRACCO shreds his guitar up every night; keyboardist CHARLIE COFFEEN tears it up on his bright red board; the low end is constantly thumping when bass-man GARRETT McGINN is on the stand; and ED HERMANEK keeps the drums and cymbals fresh, clean, and oh-so-funky. Conducting this veritable orchestra of syncopation is Chris, sometimes playing saxophone, other times smacking a keyboard, playing percussion with his feet, and yelling grunts to fuel the funky fire.When this band gets together, you want to be there. You bring in the noise and they'll bring in the funk.THE CHRIS BECKSTROM BAND is
Chris Beckstrom - saxophones, keyboards;
Anthony Bracco - Guitar;
Charlie Coffeen - keyboards;
Garrett McGinn - electric bass;
Ed Hermanek - drums
