About Me

News for January: Almost all the demos of the songs for "...Cowboy" are up! Maybe a couple more, if I can find a few quality tracks. I'm not saying the ones that are present now will make a record, nor am I saying, "damn those are fine songs" and you won't ever catch me thinking, "that's the best I've ever sung 'em", but, SOME of them strike me as headed in the right direction. You can listen and download here, or at either LNB site down there in the friends list. I'm happy to be as collaborative as I can here, so if you have comments, or know someone who might, feel free to let me know. And now, the synopsis, that you all know so well....So I've been working on this project for what seems like forever, and technically, probably is. "This project" is tentatively titled "the One She Knew as Cowboy", and is a rock opera of course. I began with the songs that I have been writing since about...oh age 15?...and it seems like this is pretty much the culmination to all of that. It occurred to me that my favorite songs are about people, and thanks to my good friend Noah Earle, I realized it was ok for someone like me to write those as well. So the story--Marvin, Jennings, and Sue, three old friends, have grown old together--not much of a story, sure, but something. Marvin's close to an "end" of some ilk, and his song loosely tells that story, and also makes reference to his radio, where he hears a song cycle, as his radio scans through the stations, that he somehow relates to virtually everything in his life, and even before it. The album, then, is both his story as well as his experience "listening" to it as he, well....goes away...While most of the songs are done in my head, they're not all here, and chances are won't be for awhile. Some of what you can hear above are the demo/scratch versions of what's going on though. I'm also, in that utopian future where I get everything done on time and well, planning a novel to go along with the cd, since, although I'm all for listeners making their own connections to the music and story, I'd also like to have something a bit more concrete. Plus, it would allow greater price tags at the utopian stores that will sell my products in this utopian blah blah blah. Thanks for listening.
