TRIBUTE TO FREDDIE BROWN AND HIS LAST SOUNDS

About Me

Fans recognize “Freddie brown” as a music legend and one of the most popular singer in the country. With hits like “Borracho Perdido,” it is difficult to miss Freddie’s unique voice. He recorded several albums in his career, and now this is his life story.Freddie was born in the Southern New Mexico town of Winston. He was one of 14 children in a musical family. Freddie grew up in the Albuquerque South Valley as a typical urban kid. His natural talent for music was recognized since grade school by his family and teachers as he naturally harmonized all the music. Freddie would say he was always a family man. Two of his sons Adam Known as AB coming out with his second CD sings R&B and Bo a popular Country music performer carry on with talent attributed from their father are popular music performers.People would ask Freddie if he changed his name to “Brown.” With a smile he would say, “My father’s name was Brown, my grand father’s name was Brown and I’m Brown. I don’t know where the name came from, it’s just the way it is. One thing I do know, is that I’m stone hispano ,” and norteno ahsta el tope.”Many people recognize the name Freddie Brown but have no clue as to what he looked like. Perhaps it was because some of the albums he released never had his picture on the cover. He once said, “I was always too busy to take pictures.” Strange for this tall and handsome gentleman who had some of the best hits playing on Mew Mexican radio stations.Freddie’s music career began accidentally when he worked for Cristy Records in Albuquerque, NM. A group from Arizona had come in to record one Sunday morning in the studio. He tried recording one of the familiar songs with the group and it remained on the actual album. Recognizing his talent, Cristy Records contracted him to continue recording. The first album, “Borracho Perdido,” came out in the late 1960’s. It was followed by “El Sensacional” and “El Versatil.” All of his recordings are mixtures of Spanish and English songs. Many more Shadows on the Wall, and Para Todos Ustedes, just to mention a few. Many of his songs are strongly influenced by country music. All of the recordings which were produced were recorded by himself and friends. The last of Freddie’s sounds are in four songs the last of his recordings will be coming and soon to be released in the near future. Viva Mi Suerte, Enojado Y Triste, El Corredor, Un Dia La Vez. They are being orchestrated by his sons and his brother Robert Brown who wrote many songs for Freddie. A brilliant writer in his own right. Much thanks is owed to Robert for his contribution to all he did for Freddie.Freddie was well received wherever he performed, from the roof of the state in Taos, where he had to be rescued from the mobbing fans, to the bottom of the state in Carlsbad. Freddie would reminisce about the popular days when he toured and performed with artists such as ReneY Rene, Freddie Fender and Antonio Aguilar. He was once asked, “Who musically accompanied you throughout your live performances?” He responded, “A better question would be: who haven’t I played with?’ At some point in his popularity, he performed with almost all the local groups in Albuquerque and beyond. He never left the music and continued to perform wherever and whenever he was recognized in the crowd by his musician friends.Even though Freddie Brown was a big name in the Spanish music business he was weary of losing his anonymity. For a while Freddie left the music business. When asked why, Freddie said with a laugh, “I never quit, but the music quit on me. The music left me back in the 70’s. I got trapped in everyday life activities which demanded of me to make a living for myself and my family.” Freddie worked in the uranium mines in Grants, New Mexico for more than eight years, until they closed down in the early 1980’s. “That’s why I glow in the dark, “ he would say. Scars on his hands were evidence of a mining accident. Freddie always remembered the old days when he worked and performed six days a week, day and night. He once stated, “The only time I sometimes got to sleep was during the intermission breaks during my performances. I couldn’t take that any more.”Freddie’s music is so well received because he packed so much emotion into his lyrics. He sang about the heartaches of humanity. He sang like he lived it. He was a very shy and humble person but when he got up to entertain he was in his element. Freddie was considered one of New Mexico’s Hispanic Music sound and influenced many young artists. Freddie crossed borders with his music.Freddie Brown died April 30,2002 in a one vehicle accident near Scottsdale, Arizona. Freddie was 61 years old. Freddie Brown’s music shall continue because his spirit continues with all his albums that were great hits... This is his life story…Muchas gracias Freddie por haber compartido con nosotros el gran talento que Dios te dio."FREDDIE BROWN' 1940-2002 MyGen Profile Generator MyGen Profile Generator MyGen Profile Generator..
