He is Algerian Saharan Sufi from his father’s side and Celt from his mother’s. This double cultural aspect is the foundation of the originality of his music. His roots are Electric World, Soul, Groove, House, Dance and above all Raï. On stage, all these mixtures are transformed into Trance, as Malik is before all else a Master of Ceremonies. He eventually went on to charm Parisian clubbers with a unique fusion of his Saharan roots and club sounds, resulting in an explosive mix of House, Oriental Trance and traditional Arabic Raï music. Author of an Arabic version of Isaac Hayes’ classic Shaft, which appeared on the very first Buddha Bar compilation, Malik Adouane has since performed to sell-out crowds in clubbing capitals such as Los Angeles, Ibiza , Goa , Tokyo, Sydney , Rio de Janeiro, London, Cairo, Montreal and has become a cult darling of club DJs worldwide. Artist Producer Malik Adouane is the author of the sound-track of Alphonso Cuaron’s movie Harry Potter: The Children of Men released by Universal in 2006. President of the quality-label Creative Source Music, Malik Adouane produced, remixed and re-adapted the masters of Soul and Funk music and those of the world Arab such as Barry White, James Brown, Oum Khaltoum, Farid El-Atrache, Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder, Warda, Fayrouz, The Temptations, Lyn Collins, Amar Diab, Bohanon Hamilton, Curtis Mayfield, Khaled, Sidi Mansour, Dahmane Harrachi , KC and Sunshine Band, Lamont Dozier, and Abdel-Halim Hafez, as well as albums distributed by the EMI label.
