Namahage is a band that's seen many transformations and incarnations. In the spring of 2006, Demitri Stewart (drums), Steve Yip (guitars), and Jason Whitsell (guitars/vocals) formed a band called "Wall of Sound". In the fall of 2006, Nate Huggins (aka SageBrush) of 5 Acres of Fear sat in on bass and played a supporting role with Whitsell on vocal duties. Over time and several practices SageBrush joined the band full time and the name was changed from "Wall of Sound" to "Over .08". This was the working title of the band. Over .08 played several shows in the winter of 2008. In April of 2008, Yip decided to leave Over .08 due to personal matters. With a vacancy in the band, Whitsell tapped Dave "The Hamma" Jack, a guitarist with 2 decades of history on the San Francisco scene for lead guitar duties. He has the guitar chops needed to elevate our sound and now the puzzle is complete. In the spirit of change, the new band name is "Namahage" which means to peel skin and is also a famous Demon from the prefecture Akita in Japan. This is our myspace page. We still play some of our old songs but with a better lineup, heavier riffs and a new determination. We're moving forward with new songs that will peel the skin off of your faces!
Namahage is here to cleanse your souls...
We'd like to apologize ahead of time for ruining your peaceful enjoyment.
