Zoco Dimande was born on December 8,1976,in the tropical city of Maputo,located on the Indian Ocean in Mozambique.His artistic development began at the age of nine,when he joined the Organization dos Continuadores de Mozambique(OCM) to study dance and theatre,he switched to guitar at age of 14 and by the age of 15 he was playing with the OCM children..s ensemble,Pombas Brancas(white Doves).Zoco became a menber of the mozambican pop group,Mix Malta,won the Music Crossroads competition in Maputo-Mozambique.2000 Zoco was invited to be the leader of Project Mabulu.They recorded their first CD "Karimbo" and They recorded second CD"Soul Marrabenta.He did sixth tour of Europa,one in Australia and South Africa.He was voted best guitarist on the Womad Festival.Mabulu was nominated for best African group at the Kora All Africa Music Awards in Sun City(South Africa).They were voted best newcomer in the BBC Radio 3 World Music Awards.Zoco Dimande,Recorded with and co-produced a solo CD for Dilon Djindji with World Music Network in the U.K.In order to expand his musical Knowledge and experience,Zoco started to work in Busi Mhlongo..s backing banb and also with the band,Afro Blue,who are all based in Durban"South Africa".He studied Jazz guitar with Demi Fernandes at the University of Kwa Zulu Natal in Durban.Zoco Dimande is busy recording his first solo CD "My Life".
