About Me

Help, I'm a musician trapped in the body of a middle-aged community newspaper editor. You can help this sad situation by listening to my songs and lavishing me with praise (but only if you mean it). The recordings here are mostly B&B jobs (basement and bathroom) done on a four-track cassette recorder, with an occasional live recording thrown in. In case you're interested in a long-form version of my musical biography, just CLICK HERE and you'll be whisked away on a whirlwind tour.

My Interests

Music:

Band Website: myspace.com/troubadog
Band Members: Just me, Randy Erickson. Formerly of the Troubadogs, Last Ditch Effort, the Proof, Stagefright and Mercury Joe and the Montclairs
Influences: Some of my favorite artists include Chuck Berry, Buddy Holly, Beatles, Bob Dylan, Neil Young, The Band, The Who, Bruce Springsteen, Jayhawks, Tom Petty, Richard Thompson, Tom Verlaine (and Television), Wilco, Son Volt, Ryan Adams, XTC, Replacements, Elvis Costello, the Foo Fighters, Coldplay, U2, R.E.M., My Morning Jacket, the Decemberists and the Len Price 3 (check these guys out).
Sounds Like: The only singer I really sound like is Duane Jarvis, and the resemblance is uncanny. One time we were watching "The Rookie" in a movie theater and one of his songs came on ("There is a Light"). My family thought it was me singing. Too bad I didn't sound like somebody a little more well known, like maybe Michael Stipe, but I sure like Duane Jarvis !

49 minutes with Paul Westerberg

Confessions of a reformed speed demon

Maybe it was because my first driving experience came at the wheel of a quarter midget, a pint-sized race car, whizzing around a banked oval track and trying to get to the checkered flag first. Or may...
