Who's in a Kritical situation and who is in less of a need of resuscitation. I am not a journalist, I’m just a girl who has allot of opinions and has allot to say, especially when it comes to music. I'm hollering at anyone who is prepeared to listen and if you have anthing to say back feel free to comment. These are just my personal views, I am not one to mince my words so don't be offended by my comments.
OHMYGOD! MISS ASHANTI is backkkk! 'THE WAY THAT I LOVE YOU' is worthy of a come back. I have to give her props for this song. Vocally, she has grown allot and this song definitely shows it off. I got a peek of her album, Ashanti fans will not be disappointed. Beuatifully written, she hits you hard with them lyrics. Look out for track 5 entitled 'struggle'. Track 7 is worth a listen entitled 'The things you make me do' featuring Robin Thicke. They are my personal favourites. She also attempts a tough ballad towards the end called 'Shine', kind of reminds me of that 'Beautiful' track that Chritina Aguilera did. Overall it's not a bad attempt, she’s been off the spotlight for a little while, maybe a slight shift away to the sound your used to from her ‘Murda Inc’ fam. but you can truly see how Ashanti has grown - Declaration is worth a buy so go cop that! P.S i've uploaded her latest single 'THE WAY THAT I LOVE YOU'. If you haven't seen it yet, make that the next thing to do on your 'to do' list! TRUST ME ITS WORTH IT!
PUSSY CAT DOLLS ARE BACK WITH 'DOLL DOMINATION' BUT THERE LATEST SONG IS REALY NOT DOMINATIING MY STEREO, OR MY IPOD!
It's one of them songs that you hate and end up hating even more because you can't get it out of your head. The person who made it needs to be shot. Chattin about wanting groupies and ish. Little girls don't need to be knowing ANYTHING about groupies! Watch out for there review on there latest album which is set to be released on the 23rd, as beuatiful as Nicole is, i'm going to be brutal ! I'm sorry to say, If the album is anything like the single BOOTLEG it !
I've been waiting soooo long for Usher to come with a new album! After 'Confessions' i was getting a little hungry for more. Now to me, 'Confessions' was a master piece. Maybe because it had some personal relevance and it was like my therapy over a period of time. So i was kind of sceptical, could this new album match up to the same standards? I was chatting to a friend that i had just bought Ushers new album and he was like, ughh USHER IS WACKK!!! and that it's all about CHRIS BROWN! Now I’m not about to diss Chris Brown but YOU CANNOT DISS AN artist like USHER and compare him to a artist who hasn't even accomplished half of what he has. I was trying to explain Usher was heavy from day one, he replied back saying; what? U - TURN???
u-TURN??? what the hell, usher has been around before 'U turn' and to me his first album till this day contains some of my favourite tracks FULL STOP!
But ANYWAY back to the future 'Here i stand' i have to say is a pretty cool album from a glance, then you dig deep and find it lacks that special ingredient. Lack of inspiration? Lack of creativity? Writers block? Who knows but after his experiences from ’confessions’ you’d think some source of inspiration with his current love affairs would’ve triggered a spark of creativity. For some reason I can’t connect with this album. With confessions I could really connect with the emotion of the stories of what he was trying to portray. Other than that it’s not all doom and gloom. We have some cool appearances from WILL.I.AM, JAY-Z, and a wicked slow version of ' in da club' which features BEYONCE and LIL WYANE. Another good slow jam, 'Love you gently', it's a good track to set the mood and get it on with that special someone, if you know what i mean lol. One of my favourite tracks has to be 'HIS MISTAKES' the lyrics are reaaallyy good. It's about being with a girl who’s hooked up on her ex and Usher is talking from the other guys point of view, it's beautifully written, so make you sure you pay attention to that one.
There are a few no go songs that didn’t really do much for me, like, 'Moving mountains' maybe it will grow on me, but right now it depresses the hell out of me.
OVERALL - HMMM what shall I give it? I think it’s fair to say it’s like Marmite, you either love it or hate it! 6/10 for me… Let me know what you think?
NEW AMERYKAH PART ONE (4th world war)
Miss Badu is BACK! After 5 years of being off the scene I would say this could arguably be the album of the year!
You really have to sit down and be in 'the zone' for this. At first glance i wasnt feelin' it that much but it has deffinitely grown on me. Some people say she’s had a tuff act to follow after 'Baduizm' but she raises the steaks high on this one, challenging and daring, I would say the risk she took with 'New Amerykah' is a worthy piece of art.
The overall tone is dark mysterious and slightly eerie, with atmospheric 70's vibe of acid/rock.
Filled with lots of story telling and political stances which is evident in songs such as 'twinkle' but I guess you wouldn’t expect anything less from Miss Badu.
My personal favourites are 'Soldier' 'Telephone' which is a dedication to the late 'J-Dilla'. It was written a day after the ceremony. The lyrics are very limited in this track, but the repetitive chanting leaves you blown away and if you listen carefully at the end, even the guy in the background says; 'that was scary'. Not to forget 'Honey' which was produced by '9th Wonder'. For me it gives you a taster of the sweeter side of being in love. Its not listed on the album but plays right at the end. The video is cool, in fact I think I will clip it as video of the week. Not to foreget 'Master Teacher' which features a snippet of 'The games - dreams'. The ones which get the thumbs down is the bonus track,'Real Thang' - wasnt really much of a bonus. Also 'The Healer' was a bit of a weak shot.
The album is supposed to be part of a trilogy. I think the tone of the album breaks away slightly towards the end, when you transition from a song like 'Telephone' to 'Honey' it could possibly be a taster of part 2 which (I think) will be entitled as 'PART 2 - The Ankh'.
Overall BADU fans WILL NOT be disappointed. I know I dug a little deep on this review but it's hard not to when your dealing with such a creative artist! SO NO BOOTLEGGING PEOPLE - SUPPORT REAL MUSIC, IF NOT, THE ART WORK IN THE INLAY ADDS TO YOUR MONEYS WORTH - Let me Know what you guys think! Signing out MIZZ KRIITICAL!
Once upon a time there was a girl called Estelle… to cut a long story short she signed to John legends label - ‘Homeschool records’ and the rest is history!
You can have the most amazing voice in the world, you could be the best musician, lyricist but when you don’t have the right people backing you or the have right songs that push and enhance your talents, then there is very little chance of people buying into what your all about. I think the whole move with Estelle going to the states has really pushed her creative talents. I’m not trying to disrespect the girl by saying she wouldn’t have got anywhere without John Legend but it definitely shows that when you have the right songs, the right people backing your career, you truly get your time to ‘shine’. People usually compare her to Lauryn Hill, but I also see a lot of Missy in her. You know how Missy Elliott has that singing/rapping kind of style going on, if you listen, you can definitely hear that. At the same time she is refreshing and not trying to sound to ‘American‘, she puts in her U.K swagger Beautifully and sounds amazing live. The U.K should be very proud. So congratulations to Estelle on her first number 1# single, ’American Boy’. Her album ’Shine’ is also out in stores so go cop that - NO BOOTLEGGING this one is definitely worth the money!
The latest single from Miss MC! Well where do i start? At first glance u think hmmm nice tune, catchy... but then the more and more you hear her voice on this track, the more and more i got irritated by it! I think the whole song is lame especially it being her first single from her up and coming album, 'E=MC2'. The productions weak, vocals are not all that and the lyrics?, 'Touch my body'???? why the hell is a 30 something year old woman singing touch my body??? Shouldn't it have been touched by now??? I'm really not feeling this joint here but i guess you shouldnt judge a book by its cover. I know that may have been a harsh kritic but i expect better from MISS carey, so we'll see what she has coming next.
