I'm a Colorado native. I have been lucky enough to play music for my livelihood for nearly twenty years. In 1987 I joined the 17th Avenue All Stars , and sang and traveled with them for five years. In 1992, I founded Opie Gone Bad , and I continue to sing lead for the band. Since 1998 I have performed the National Anthem at nearly all Colorado Avalanche home games.I work for the Denver Police Activities League . We run athletic leagues and other activities for inner-city Denver youth. Jake's
Joe is my coffee company. We hand roast coffee for hundreds of people and businesses, and we're expanding all the time.I'm the host of "Mountain Homegrown", a local music show on 99.5 The Mountain . For the first time, I have an opportunity to listen to all the amazing artists in my area that I was never able to see because my own band was always playing.For about the last year, I've been writing a column for 5280 Magazine.Whew!I am a pilot, I love playing hockey, and working around the house.My beautiful wife and I had our first child together last July, and I couldn't be more excited. I have a daughter who turned nine in March and is in fourth grade (!!!) this fall.
