STEVE DUTRO an artist by day and a guitar shredding animal by night is one of the original founding members of the band. Steve and Jeff have been playing together for about 8 years now. Steve says, "I met Jeff at a friends garage. We basically started as a garage jam band. I have played with a lot of local folks over the years as the band has evolved to what we are now." Steve has been playing guitar for over 20 years and it shows. His right hand technique, tone and chops are some of the best stuff you will hear north of Sacramento.
JEFF ARQUIETTE picked up the guitar for the first time 8 years ago where he met Steve at a mutual friend's garage when he was invited over for a jam. "I could barely play an open chord clean at the time," remembers Jeff. "Steve and the guys were so patient with me. I really owe them." Jeff has evolved into a competent guitar player who holds down the rhythm so Steve can perform his magic.
BRIAN OTTMAN
a 33-year-old drummer with 25 years
behind the kit, has been a mainstay in the Northern
California music scene. Performing professionally in
the Redding area for the last twelve years, he has
held down the rhythm sections of such popular acts as
Buster Pratt, Tyger Lylee, The New Natives, Loose
Arrow, Clear Cut, and is a frequent attraction at the
Shasta Blues Society. With his steady, solid beats,
funky feel, and his love for live performances, he is
a natural fit and a great addition to Backstage Pass.
SUZIE KIRKBY joined the band in July of 2004 when Steve and Jeff were checking out a Van Halen karaoke contest at Win River. She won second place that night. Says Jeff, "I don't even remember what Van Halen song she did. It was her rendition of "Still Lovin' You" by the Scorpions that sealed the deal for us." At that point Suzie had never sang live with a band, but you should see her now. She is one rockin lady!!
ROYCE STEVENS has been with BSP for about two-and-a-half years. As it turns out Jeff and Royce are neighbors, but didn't know it until October of 2003 when he came to our rescue with a bass drum head that Roger kicked through during a party at Jeff's house. Royce was playing in several bands at the time and it wasn't until we lost our original bass player that Royce was called and just happened to be available. Royce has a keen ear for tone ( we like to call him the Tone Master ) and can really lay down the bass line. He is one cool cat!
