About Me

I used to want to be like David Bowie, marry a Supermodel and wear her clothes. Now I want to be like David Beckham, marry a Spice Girl and wear her clothes.I love women. Perhaps out of jealousy, I am a bit of a gender bender. You won’t catch me wearing a prom dress on a Saturday night, but I do like to present a moderately androgynous appearance. Sometimes I think of myself as being like a glam rock star without the fame, fortune, and groupies. In a philosophical sense, I am a beta male. Beta males are more feminine than other males. I believe that gender is a functional characteristic, not a formal one. It is descriptive, prescriptive, and subscriptive. It describes us, is prescribed for us, and we subscribe to our own personal versions of it. It transcends maleness and femaleness. I also believe that people have gender preferences and that gender expression is a primary source of personal happiness. I prefer and am happy to be a beta male but am still more butch than the average female. I am smart and funny, and try to be humble, tolerant, and kind. I like people who are sympathetic or who have a similar personality. If you are looking for an alpha male who will force you to write bad checks and bake cookies for him, then I am not the man for you. I am definitely not that kind of a brute. I am more of a gentleman. I might force you to write bad checks, but I would never force you to bake cookies for me.

Batman Works Part-Time

Why should we do the right thing?  We shouldn't, most of the time.  Most of our behavior is nonmoral.  It isn't right and it isn't wrong.  No one conquers Satan on the bus or in th...

My Speck Is Better Than Your Speck

The personal capacity of humans to know and do things is extremely small.  A pure speck of knowledge and power is better than a polluted one, but not much better.  People who are always...

No Cookies for Anyone

We are all weak, insignificant, mundane, and imperfect in an absolute sense.  The best of us are relatively better than the worst, but I wouldn't hold a parade to celebrate the difference.

Lesson in Subjectivity Number 4.5

I don't like the subjective things that you do, but you like them.  Who is right?  No one.

Lesson in Subjectivity Number 6

Nobody likes broccoli because they saw somebody eating it, so don't worry that some homo will turn you into a vegetarian.
