I am known by many names: The Fertile Crescent, The Levant, Frecnh mandate (but really, a French colony), Bilad il-Sham, yet the most enduring name remains the most fitting: CRADLE OF CIVILIZATIONMost notably, I'm the center of one of the most ancient civilizations on earth. Damascus, the same bibical city mentioned in Chrisitanity and Judaism, the present-day capital, has been inhabited as early as 8,000 to 10,000 BC and is known to be the oldest continuously inhabited city in the world.Yes I, the mother of civilization have seen my fair share of dominators with designs of empires on their minds: Canaanites, Hebrews, Arameans, Assyrians, Babylonians, Persians, Greeks, Romans, Nabataeans, Byzantines, Arabs, and, in part, Crusaders, Ottoman Turks, and now the biggest empire of the 21st century has set its sights on me. However, what they don't know is that:THIS IS PROTECTED BY THE RED, THE BLACK, AND THE GREEN!
