About Me

__________________________________________________
OTHER: What I'm about? You'll probably have to know me to understand me, but in a few words... Good times without sacrificing academics. It is important to me to keep my priorities straight and to keep busy, while still having fun at the same time. If you REALLY want to know more about me, read my " Statement of Objectives " from my graduate school application. I know it's long, but you might see me from a different perspective... More questions? just ask...

Music:

NO LOCAL RADIO STATIONS PLEASE or Duff Paddy rap. Tight wordplays and poetic lyrics striated with jazz-rooted rhythms… damn. Artists who purge hip hop of negativity, swearing and violence. Make it live, even better... Mos Def, Talib Kweli, Common, Glenn Lewis, John legend, A Tribe Called Quest, nujabees, slum village, the Roots, Pete Rock, Lupe Fiasco, De La Soul, d'angelo, Lauryn Hill, Amel Larrieux, Adriana Evans, Erykah Badu, Floetry, Jill Scott, Angie Stone, Musiq soulchild, Groove Theory, India Arie, Vivian Green, Corinne Bailey Rae, Amos lee, Damien Rice, Remy Shand, Marvin Gaye, Al Green, Ryan Tedder, Jason Mraz, John Mayer, and even Brian Mcknight would be greatly appreciated. Dammit Dave Chappelle, why couldn't you have just thrown your "block-party" in Hawaii. On the other hand, I'd have to admit, the Roots and Erykah Badu were off the hook when they performed here. Best $$$ I've ever spent. and Black Star, MAKE ANOTHER FURICKEN ALBUM ALREADY!!!

Movies:

Ke Ke Xi Li, Spirited Away, Goonies, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Monster's Ball, Saving Private Ryan, The Green Mile, Gladiator, A Beautiful Mind, Braveheart, Live free or die hard, Something the Lord Made, Pay it Forward, Falling Down, Fight Club, Training Day, Contact, Coming to America, Slackers, Can't Hardly Wait, American Wedding, Three to Tango, What Women Want, Wedding Crashers, Superbad, City of Angels, Serendipity, Something New, the Brothers, Two Weeks Notice, and Two Can Play That Game... or any movie where the underdog comes out on top. ;)

Television:

[Adult Swim]...particularly Samurai Champloo, Ghost in the Shell, Wolf's Rain, and Family Guy. HBO's Entourage...sick. Anything on Animal Planet, National Geographic, or the Discovery Channel (despite their anecdotal science)... especially Jeff Corwin's shiet, he's funny.

Books:

Tuesdays with Morrie by Mitch Albom, Oh, the places you'll go! by Dr. Seuss, Selected Short Stories by Nathaniel Hawthorne and Leaves of Grass by Walt Whitman

Heroes:

I am my own Goddamn' hero, but my students come in as a close second... Okay, maybe Preston Meyers if you remember what movie he was from (hint: he was a huge underdog from one of my favorite movies).
