The "I Am Hip Hop: My Voice Matters" program is a comprehensive, peer created & directed arts program based on hip hop culture that aims to enrich the lives of the incarcerated youth of the Juvenile Justice Department by educating them about the positive role hip hop can play in their lives within AND outside of the Miami-Dade Regional Juvenile Justice Center.
The curriculum encompasses the four elements of hip hop: emceeing, deejaying, graffiti art and break dancing, as well as spoken word poetry, beat boxing, entrepreneurialism, communication & self-expression and will further cover themes relating to life skills such as cooking, college & finance, community activism, careers in the entertainment industry, legal matters relating to sealing juvenile records, personal responsibility and healthy lifestyles proceeding their release from the facility.
The objective of the program is to inspire the youth at the Miami-Dade Regional Juvenile Justice Center to channel their energy and use their talents to turn their lives around through hip hop. The way we hope to achieve this is by allowing the youth to interact with artists and peers who have walked in their shoes and grown from their past experiences by utilizing hip hop culture as a means to express themselves constructively & contribute positively to society.

To expand the reach of "I Am Hip Hop: My Voice Matters" to other facilities throughout the county, state, nation and world.
To preserve hip hop culture and its history by educating current and future generations.
To create a strong and impacting presence throughout our communities.
To serve as a successful model for individuals and other organizations.
To maintain a grassroots approach in the various ways in which we secure funding.
To be conscious and educated consumers as a collective.
