Music and audio Food and cooking These things are intrinsically linked simply through sheer nature. They are skills and arts that reflect one another beautifully. If you mix it incorrectly, people won't like the way it tastes. And since all tastes are different, only the truly talented and masters can please a greater majority of an open audience, whether culinarily or audibly.

All of my heroes are dead except for......nope, they're dead too.
A lot of my heroes have been comedians and musicians; they seemed to be the most 'in tune' (pardon the pun) with what was actually going on, instead of giving it the 'Bob Hope SugarCoat'. Some of these people are on my friends list, so check 'em out if you get a chance.
Bill Hicks- The Dark Poet... Get everything this man ever said and listen to it until you truly understand what he is saying. The relevance is just as true today as it was 13 or so years ago.
George Carlin- The greatest comedian. Thank you for every word, every year, every HBO special, every joke in high school no one else knew. A true hero lost. Joe Bless You!
Lenny Bruce- The only reason Carlin and Hicks are before Lenny on my list is because they are who I grew up to, especially Carlin. Bill Hicks was my modern day Lenny, but I have great respect for both of them. Lenny paved the way for what Bill did in the late 80's to early 90's.
Richard Pryor- One of the all-time best comics...RIP Richard, you are truly missed
Eric Bogosian- Social Commentary as told through the eyes and voices of his many varied, yet topical, characters that he brings to life in his one man theater performances.
Marc Maron- A truly honest voice of what is happening today. From politics to family to family politics and political families, Marc takes a very cut to the bone method of making you laugh...and think. "I read it in a book, written by a guy that writes books."
...and some of my personal favorites, while not necessarily heroes...
Dave Chappelle- Genius
Mitch Hedberg- Just outright funny. A true loss.
Jeff Ross- The Roastmaster General
Doug Stanhope- In '08!
Bob Saget- One of the quickest and dirtiest comics ever, 'Full House' was a total put-on
Greg Giraldo
Sarah Silverman- One funny bitch
Jim Florentine- 'Special Ed'
Lewis Black
April Winchell- read her blog and check out her site, her take on the world is right on the money. www.aprilwinchell.com
Louis CK
Jim Norton
Robert Kelly
Dave Attel
Joe Rogan- Fighting Against Hacks!
Ron White- The only one of the 'BlueCollar guys that doesn't suck (Larry the Cable Guy....lowering the bar every night)
Bill Burr
Patton Oswalt
Zach Galifianakis
Chelsea Handler- Guilty pleasure, what can I say?
Ben Bailey- I like Cash Cab
Gilbert Godfried- The Aristocrats joke at the Hefner Roast is fucking priceless!
The entire 'cast' of The Aristocrats, with the exception of maybe Emo. I just don't get that guy at all.
Opie n Anthony- while not technically 'comedians', they do support a lot of the stand-up comics that are actually funny
Charlie Murphy- 'What did the five fingers say to the face? SLAP!
Eddie Murphy- 'I am Gumby dammit!'
Katt Williams- That's a funny mofo
Alex Borstein- mmmmmmmm, Lois Griffin
.......when I think of more I'll add them, but for now, I think this will give a decent impression of what I like in comedy. If you haven't seen "The Aristocrats" yet, I certainly urge you to see it, especially if you are in the music, movie or theater business in any way.
