I am here for Friends and Networking

About Me

I am a 29 year old gay white male living in Chicago. I am an easygoing and fun loving person with a lot of friends. I am easy to read and get along with. I tend to love easily and get hurt often. I am a flight attendant for United Airlines, a job that I have aspired for since I was in high school. I am witty and sarcastic at times, extremely loyal and giving. I am starting to feel more domestic. I am enjoying my life more fully than ever lately. I have a great group of friends most of whom fly. It is a bit challenging at times to get people together as we are normally scattered around the globe. I have an awesome roommate, in a beautiful condo. I feel the need to travel! I hate being confined to one geographical area for too long, Chicago and San Francisco excluded. Half of everything I learned, I have learned from traveling. A little background on my life till now: I was born in 1978. My parents divorced when I was about 3 months old. My dad was cheating on my mom, with another guy. So I was raised solely by my mother. I was not an easy child to raise either, which is why my mother is listed under the "my hero" section. She decided to follow her heart and join a missionary group. So she planned on moving to Japan when I was three. We met up with some friends in Miami. They were going to Japan as well but decided to make a brief stop in Ecuador first to introduce their new baby to the grandparents. My mom fell in love with the Ecuadorian people and opted to stay there. We stayed for about 7 years. In 1989 we moved to Colombia. I loved it there, but was stuck in a boarding school while my mom traveled into the jungles. We stayed in Colombia for 8 months. We were in downtown Bogotá one day when a bomb went off in a dumpster a block away. Consequently, we decided to leave and go to Venezuela. We were there for 3 short months before moving to Chile. Chile is probably one of the most beautiful places I have ever seen! After living there for about 3 years, I messed around with the preacher’s son, and got kicked out of the missionary school at 14. So we returned to The States after 11 years. San Jose, CA was where my Grandma lived so we moved in with her. This is where it gets interesting! I knew my grandmother was a lesbian (this is my mom’s mother). But when greeted by her at the airport, she did seem a little masculine. Come to find out she had had the gender reassignment surgery (sex change) and was now my Granddad. I have a lot of gays in my family. My mothers younger sister was in a lesbian relationship for 12 years and is now back to men. My fathers younger brother is gay and my cousin is bi. My family could be an example for the genetic argument. We left my Granddad's (former Grandmother) house 2 months later and moved in with my Aunt Merri in Sacramento, CA. This is where I went to high school and still consider it home. I had already completed the freshman year in Chile, but unfortunately my grades did not transfer. Since the seasons are different in the southern hemisphere, and school starts at a different time then ours up here, I was stuck in the last semester of 8th grade here in The States before being made to redo 9th grade. I was unable to begin the 9th grade originally because it was January and I had missed the first semester. So at 17 I took my GED. I started to hang out with my father in San Diego a bit since I had never known him. I never really took to our awkward relationship. I had always gotten along better with his partner at the time, Tom. Little by little he became more of a father to me than my own father. After 17 years of being together they broke up and went their separate ways. I went back to Sacramento and started pilot school. I ended up quitting flight school due to the expense. I met an awesome boy and moved to SF in 1998 to be closer to him. I got into raving. I started working at Gap and stayed there for awhile before breaking up with my man and moving to San Diego to live with my dad. My dad had offered to pay for my flight school and got me all excited. I left the beautiful city by the bay and moved to So Cal in August of 2000. I was working for my father and not being paid as he had promised. We ended up fighting and not getting along at all. I called Tom (his X partner) after a huge fight and he offered to let me stay with him. I took him up on the offer. This was the beginning of a very nontraditional father-son relationship. He has helped me through the toughest parts of my life, and I am eternally grateful. This is also where I met my best friend Adrian. We talk everyday despite the fact that we live two time zones away. He is who I call first when I need advice or just to share important life developments. I had the opportunity to finally work for an airline. ATA! We were the largest carrier out of Chicago, Midway. We did Hawaii and the Caribbean, Mexico and tons of military charters to Europe, Asia, and the Middle East. Unfortunately they declared chapter 11 in October of '04 and I got laid off in April of '05. I ended up getting hired with Midwest Airlines up in Milwaukee, WI. But it wasn't my thing. I ended up quitting mid December. I applied for United Airlines in December of 2005 an have been working there ever since. I absolutely love it and cant think of anything I would rather be doing. I guess that's all for now. Thanks for reading.IN LOVING MEMORY OF CREIGHTON AND TONY!

I love anything and everything aviation related. I love snow and earthquakes. I know, I am strange. I have lived all over and traveled all over the world. I love Thai food, beer, and did I mention airplanes?
