Loyd Vandergriff got the nickname The Human in his younger days. He played in bands all through high school, then took a 30 year leave of absence from the music. He got a strat and twin reverb in 2004, and started writing songs for fun. This soon progressed to the more serious level. In June of 2006, The Human released his first CD, The Real Stuff. The story behind this is somewhat interesting because it was recorded in two studio's over the course of a year. The first studio was The Soundgarden in Porterville, CA. 9 Tracks were laid down in 2 sessions, primarily live with little overdubbing in what could be described loosely as a "party atmosphere." Out of the "Porterville sessions" came several outstanding cuts, most notibly Standing in the Shadows, Jimmy's Juke Joint, Ridin This Train, and Red Vette Roll. These tunes were cut on analog equipment for that organic earthy sound. This was basically a fun effort for The Human, but the public liked the CD, and many of the songs were cut in one take, so some of them just did not come out to The Human's standards. He took the "master tapes" to Fast Traxx in Fresno, CA to re-mix some of these tunes to give them more "pop" this included Standing In The Shadows, Back To Memphis and Red Vette Roll. He totally re-recorded Jimmy's Juke Joint, Workin Too Hard, Ridin This Train, and wrote 3 new ones...Headin For Tennessee, Hi Fallutin Momma and Stormy Night in Texas. These songs were mixed and sent to Gateway mastering lab in Maine, with Adam Ayan doing the work. So....The Real Stuff was born. The final product was still almost a live studio effort for the most part, with little overdubbing on all the songs. This CD was well received even with some production limitations...well enough received that The Human began writing again and recorded "Humanized" in the spring and summer of 2008. This disc was released in February of 2008 and it is being very well received as well.
