Beyond Redemption

About Me

Beyond Redemption are a collection of headbanging mis-fits who like to have fun and play loud. They bring together many elements of 1980's style heavy metal with more hardcore/screamo elements of today to try to create their own sound. They incorporate very technical guitar work with catchy riffs laid over a real heavy drum beat that contains a lot of double kick work and a powerful bass line to provide the engine that drives a fast moving powerful sound. They then throw into the mix some powerful roaring vocals and some more melodic vocal work that use lyrical content to convey some of their thoughts on political and social issues. ............................................................ .....................................The band was created (just like frankenstein’s monster) in a wild experiment in the cellar of a terraced house in the action-packed fun filled town of Kidderminster in Worcestershire U.K. On the 22nd March 2008 the monster was borne forth into the world. ............................................................ .....................................Their first gig was on 31st July 2008 at the Ten Café Bar in Kidderminster where they shared the bill with Birmingham based Silence Lies Within and Kidderminster based Malevolent Aspect. This was followed by another gig at the same venue again with Malevolent Aspect. At both these gigs Rob Hayes was also on the bill as a solo act but has since joined Beyond Redemption on guitar. ............................................................ .....................................In the short term the band are looking to do more gigs to get plenty of stage experience as well as continuing to develop their writing with a view to getting enough material together for an album. The band would be pleased to hear from any Promoters who could find them a spot on their bill or from anyone who just enjoys their music. In the long term Who Knows…………..

Music:

Band Members: Rob Smith is the vocalist, with the band, but in reality he his soooo much more than this he is a multi talented musician playing guitar, bass, drums and keyboards. Rob is also an important part of making the band work as he is always making sure everyone is o.k particularly when the band are gigging making sure everyone is getting enough water etc… he also plays a massive role in getting the sound right at live gigs and in the studio. Rob is currently in his second year at Worcester College where he is studying for a B Tec National Diploma in music. He cites his influences as Killswitch Engage, Iron Maiden, Exodus and Testament.__________________________________________________ __________________________________________________ Matt Sewell (Reaper) started playing guitar at the age of 15 after being inspired by bands such as Trivium and Bullet For My Valentine. He loves performing live and getting right up the front of the stage for a shred and really enjoys the close contact with the audience and feeds of their reaction. He is currently studying at Worcester College for a B Tec first diploma in music Technology. His main guitar influences are “Dimebag” Darrell, Matt Heafy and Synyster Gates although he also has some classical influences and likes pieces by Paganini and Beethoven.__________________________________________________ __________________________________________________ Rob Hayes, guitarist, is the most recent member of the band and the rest of the band are really excited to have Rob join them. Rob is a very modest guy but his list of accomplishments to date is truly amazing. He completed an access to music course at Worcester College before going on to study at the British Academy Of New Music (London) he is also a Rock School award winner as well as being an Associate of Trinity College London (distinction). After returning from London Rob spent some time putting together his own album “Done & Dusted”, as a celebration of finishing formal study, as well as gigging as a solo artist at the same time. Rob currently teaches guitar at a local shop as well as spending a lot of time rehearsing with the band. The main influences for Rob are Steve Vai, Yngwie Malmsteen, Joe Satriani and Jason Becker._____________________________________________________ _______________________________________________ Josh Oliver (Budgie) plays bass in the band but also plays keyboard and guitar. Amazingly he only started playing bass at the beginning of 2008 but has shown a real talent for it learning very quickly and is also fast becoming a very talented songwriter. Josh is a pretty laid back sort of character but don’t let his initial image fool you this guy can rock with the best of them and is a very creative musician as well as being a very funny guy at times. He does a fair bit of guitar repair work and cites his main influences as Cliff Burton and Billy Sheehan.____________________________________________________ ________________________________________________ Matt (B.E.V) started playing the drums when he was 11years old after it was suggested to his parents that this might help with his anger management. Not absolutely sure it worked completely but he did get quite good at it. Matt went on to have lessons with a fantastic drummer called Andy Edwards who taught him a lot and improved his technique. After Leaving school he went to Kidderminster College where he completed a B Tec First Diploma in music performance. His main Influences are Thomas Lang and Joey Jordison and his ambition is to make a living from music and avoid having to get a “proper” job.
