CUTTING BRIDGES (NOW ON I-TUNES!)

About Me

The tracks included in Giacomo Castellano’s CD “Cutting Bridges”, form part of an extensive musical catalogue drawn from his experience as a musician. Composed between ’91 and the present day, it is an excursion that follows his musical path of more than 10 years spent on stages and in recording studios all over the world.
“CUTTING BRIDGES” is an autobiographical effort through which permeates his sense of growth. From track to track, the music changes its style giving a feeling of evolution. His work escapes a monotonous genre, to find its place in the subtle listening of the present time and the common themes that we all share. This is what makes the album extremely comprehensible.
A FEW WORDS ABOUT “CUTTING BRIDGES” 12 TRACKS:
1 – GAZTAMBIDE (2002)
Born in the surprisingly “rock” streets of Madrid, it is a bit Led Zeppelin, a bit Prodigy
and a bit Castellano.
2 – L.F.L. (1998-2002)
Slide guitars and brass. It’s a track that tastes of R’n’Blues – Country rock.
3 – MUSIC Part One (2002)
It’s a mix of funk, rock, jazz, hip-hop and chill out music. The lyrics are freely expressed to talk just about Music. (Lyrics by Dre Love, New York rapper)
4 – THE DREAM LAYING ON MY BED (1993)
This track is easily accessible also to a “non-guitar addicted” public. The song is extremely precious for its composer, who wrote it in 1993 with Rossella Ruini.
It’s a ballad in 6/8 with a crescendo and a psychedelic finale.
5 – MUSIC Part Two (2002-2003)
This is to be considered the instrumental follow-up of Track No. 3. The brass experience deserved another episode!
6 – GARBAGE (2002-2003)
There’s a bit of Santana’s melodious style here… This track was mentally composed in 10 minutes, but recorded in 4 restless days. Behind its simplicity, there’s hidden one of the most “sweating” lead tracks.
7 – LITTLE ELVES (1992-2002)
The elves magically arrive after 10 hours on the mixer. The voice comes from an old 8 track recording session, and the melody has been built around Rossella Ruini’s vocals. It works also as a kind of intro to the next track.
8 – BIG AS A KEY (1992-93)
One more track written and sung by Rossella Ruini. The time changes in the refrain; guitars grow in 5/4; lyrics are surrealistic.
9 – ARIETE (2002)
One of the most inspired instrumental compositions. It has been recorded using a B to B tuning on a GINISKI Guitar (Made in Florence).
10 – TRY TO SAVE YR SONG (2002)
Rough cut. From here comes the idea of “Cutting Bridges”; a decisive detachment with the previous musical choices. The trumpet evokes “Miles” atmospheres, and the arrangements are born via Castellano’s deep interest in bands such as Massive Attack, Portishead and Tricky.
11 – ENVIRONMENTS (1998)
Acoustic track based on Indian and experimental influences. Totally improvised. Started in 1998 and completed in 2002.
12 – CUTTING BRIDGES 1 (2002)
Unique experimental track that Giacomo has created avoiding any pre-configured musical path.
