The Henpeckers

About Me

The Henpeckers play originals (inspired by Johnny Cash, Roger Miller, Cindy Walker and other such writers) and covers (by Loretta, Lynn, Tammy Wynette, Bob Wills, Jean Shepard Bonnie Owens, Tennessee Ernie Ford, etc.) in the country, honky tonk, hillbilly, acid hen-house, whatever name you want to call it vein, with three different lead vocalists (and various combinations thereof). The Henpeckers were formed in 2003 by head hens Polly Darton and Mazel Hoats, and they were eventually joined by Cousin EZ on the "traps" and Cal Southern on guitar and providing the Foghorn Leghorn element (somebody, I say, somebody knocked). Many gigs, radio remotes and state fair egg-layin' contests ensued, including such Los Angeles area locales as Safari Sam’s, the Blue Café, the Echo (Grand ‘Ole Echo), the Cinema Bar and L.A. County Fair. Any resemblance between the Henpeckers and such people as Julia Devine (The Fleagles, Hillbilly Varmints, King Dapper Combo), Brent Walker (Del Noah & the Mt. Ararat Finks, The Pivot Foots, Fleagles, Baker Bros.), Rozan Simeroth (Fleagles, The Rotters, The Omlits, Thirsty Brats) and Catherine Butler (The Witching Hour, Cameltoe) could be strictly coincidental.
