‘Belle de Jour’ are a Manchester based band fronted by singer/songwriter Charlotte Day. The band was originally formed in 2002 when Charlotte, known mostly for her work in dance music, held the desire to write more alternative songs for a broader audience. This was fulfilled when she met co-writer Carrie Hamer.
As songwriters, they embraced a diverse range of musical influences, and had written an album's worth of songs within the first year of their collaboration.
However, as time moved on, so did the music and spring 2006 spawned the early stages of new songs which became more guitar based than their earlier electro biased material.
Today, the 'Belle de Jour' sound is best described as a refreshing blend of alternative and acoustic pop combining infectious melodies with honest lyrics. With a new direction including brand new songs, additional members and co-writes with a whole host of names, the band have just released their debut EP 'Miracle' which is available from iTunes, Amazon, Napster and other download sites...! Plus, a forthcoming album is scheduled for later in 2009! We'll keep you posted, but in the meantime, check out the teaser tracks above.
