- a Phat Maxx is a band comprised of guitar, bass and drums, but has a sound that's much bigger than a trio. Based on Boston's North Shore, Phat Maxx is made up of three veterans of the Boston music scene, having played the club and concert circuits in Boston and New York and receiving airtime on many Metro Boston radio stations with national audiences and MTV & VH-1 Classics.Thad Bernard: Bass & Lead Vocals With a smooth yet powerful vocal style, Thad Bernard is the lead vocalist and bass guitarist of the band. Thad grew up on Boston’s North Shore and has played a wide variety of musical styles with local and national acts such as Feat of Clay, Ric Ocasek and the Cars as well as many others. Thad has also composed works done by international opera / pop star Deborah Sasson.Peter Wostrel: Guitar & Vocals Veteran lead guitarist Pete Wostrel brings a wide range of styles to the band, from progressive & classic rock, to blues and jazz fusion. Pete has played throughout New England and beyond with many bands including Hush and Feat of Clay. Pete's bands have backed up major acts like Robin Trower, James Montgomery, Poison, Tony MacAlpine and more.Eric Brown: Drums & Vocals Born in Camden, NJ, drummer Eric Brown hails from Salem, MA. Eric studied music at Texas Southern University in Houston and drums in Boston with Alan Dawson. Eric has played in several Boston-based bands including Semper Fi, Brian Maes & The Memory and Feat of Clay, as well as the popular Houston band Family. He has worked on stages with James Brown, Kool & The Gang, The Coasters, Chic, Cameo, Modern English and ELP.
