Six fifteen passenger transportation vans.INNER CITY YOUTH CEO BIO: GANGSTA TEA -AKA- Terry C. Carney is no stranger to growing up on the mean streets as an inner-city youth. Terry grew up with seven brothers and five sisters. As a young child, his brothers negatively influenced his early development. By age ten, he was indoctrinated with street hustling, pimping, drug dealing, and gang affiliation. In spite of this he had loving parents, who worked three jobs apiece to support them, spending more time at work, than in their home. His parents desired to instill honesty, and respect in their children, but because of the size of their large family, they frequently left the older siblings the authority to enforce rules and regulations. His dysfunctional household draws a parallel to inner city youths of today. Working class parents with little or no education spend long hours at minimum wage jobs, earning just enough to pay rent, bills, and feed their families, while their children raise themselves in neighborhoods over run by delinquents, gangs and pushers. In high school, Terry was a gang leader, fighting bloody battles over street power with a rival gang, south Side Loco’s. With body counts mounting, reports of killings involving Black and Mexican gangs were published daily. Larry Jones founder of Feed the Children, along with other civic leaders called a day of Peace from the gang wars, and form a truce between gang leaders on both sides. That day, Terry’s life took a 360 degree turn for the better with the meeting of one man. That mans name was Dr. Joseph Jennings. He listened to everything Terry had to say, promising to mentor Terry for the rest of his life. Although Terry was completely jaded by street life, he knew that Larry Jones had flown this man in as a last ditch effort to bring peace. After the rally had ended, Joseph called Terry weekly, and flew in at his own expense, for no other reason than to see how he was doing. After Terry relocated to Compton, California Joseph continued to visit him, always his conversation turned to the love that Jesus Christ had for him. As he learned more about Jesus, he turned his life around. Today, he travels with Mr. Joseph Jennings, sharing his testimony in the hopes of making a difference in other kid’s lives. Terry founded Peace -N- Da Hood, to mentor at risk youth, dedicating his life to giving others a second chance at life.We welcome volunteers to be part of our organization, whose goal is teaching our kids, that they can accomplish anything they set their minds to.
