SHREDDER HERNANDEZ does the Nihilistic Daydreams column. Started playing guitar to exorcise anger and aggression, caused by some passed situations that there was no control over, to little avail. Came to Los Angeles a little under three years ago just to pick up a tuition deposit from the Musicians Institute, and somehow managed to get sucked into this cesspool of a city. Even after several instances of hitting the gutter rat lifestyle, and being my own worst enemy,random instances of being stabbed in the back and led astray, my chops are still better that most, and drive is relentless. Usually drunk, and usually apathetic. So anyone who disagrees can go to hell... I can be quite irresponsible at times, but after being responsible when I was supposed to be enjoying a childhood, I need my fun to come at some point, and that point is now... I have worked in coffee shops, mechanic shops, a BDSM dungeon, as well as dabbled in street pharmacy, and have gone through more lessons than you'd expect, so don't try to preach. Besides I think it may be time for a change, I just don't know what that is yet...

3SATVA: The future is now, that is my truth. I look to the ancient past to unlock keys to the future; ways of life that were quickly swept into prehistory are flooding the subconscious of today. The Aztek, Maya and Toltek peoples history has not yet been written because the concluding chapters are on their way. There are secrets locked within ancient pyramids and hieroglyphic script. Inspired by cyber punk novels and fueled by the deep base and drums propelled at my generation through music, drawing what I uncover is the least I can do. The future seems more real to me than the present; flying cars, nano-technology and neo-tribalism. What I see and interpret through drawing blends street graffiti with the reawakening of ancient arts and geomancy. Toltek Feng Shui, Tesla coil pyramids, Hindu flying cars, genetic implant cat eyes and gills... The technology is already here. It is simply a matter of inventing a new visual way of creating it.
JESSIE VON PRESLEY, THE AXL MANSON OF ROCK N ROLL COMEDY is a charismatic standup comedian/rockstar from Los Angeles who works in a very dark shade of blue. Jessie touches on a lot of hot button issues in his act, but he’s able to get away with saying horribly offensive things because he posses a certain charm. This dynamic stage performer is quite comfortable taking command of an audience, that’s a result of many years fronting his own LA rock band “Jessie Von Presleyâ€. As soon as Jessie started doing standup he was taken back by the overwhelmingly positive response he received, and by how people would suggest he pursue a career in comedy rather than music. Jessie says “it then occurred to me that I must be really funny… or just a shitty musicianâ€. Jessie’s creative writing and unique prospective combined with a dirty mind and a dark sense of humor has given him the ability to put together a well crafted headline act with jokes of varied topics that coherently tie together for nonstop laughs. His brutal honesty, out of control lifestyle, and self deprecating narcissism make for an outragesly side splitting comedy show.
In 1980 I began singing and writing songs and lyrics, AND I STILL DO, under the alias "CAPTAIN ANARCHY" for the notorious old school "Spraypaint Heroes of Punk Rock" band from the Westside that's called H. x P. (pronounced "H P", the "x" is silent - it's a ghetto graffiti punk rock "homeboy" thang "Yo"!) that has played support slots over the years for major national touring punk rock headliners like Bad Religion and Social Distortion, etc., and has just released a 5 song EP co-produced by legendary drummer and producer Derek O'Brien of Social Distortion and Adolescents fame.

EARLIER THIS YEAR CANADIAN LABEL MISFORTUNE TOOK A GAMBLE ON THEM AND RELEASED "SONGS OF LUST AND CORROSION." A COLLECTION OF SONGS RECORDED OVER THE LAST SIX YEARS WITH PRODUCER ROMAN MARISAK AND SHOWCASES THEIR BROAD STYLE, UNFORGETTABLE HOOKS AND RELENTLESS ENERGY.
