The Dollar Messiahs

About Me

..
The Dollar Messiahs were born in Portland, OR in late 2005. The band was founded by Topeka natives, Reginald "Burnside" Beaumont and Ike Avery. At 18, the two moved to Portland seeking musical fortune. For months, the two languished in open mic purgatory until a chance encounter with Benito Papillion (of tragically defunct Plum Revolver Study). Recalls Benito, "So, I'm at this open mic night, just kind of getting back into the scene after a long, uh...well, we'll just say 'exile'...and I see this guy pumping out some great fuckin' punk rock-ish tune. On his acoustic, no less! Still, the energy was there, the feeling was there....it was good, very good. After he was off stage, I went right up to him and said, 'Look, I'm your guitarist. Name's Benito.' Turns out, he'd heard of me!" Given the immense local popularity of Plum Revolver Study, this should have come as no surprise. After a string of poor drummer auditions, Benito called up old friend and ex-Plum Revolver Study drummer, William "Blisters" Huckabee. He accepted the offer instantly. With the lineup complete, the band immediately went to work rehearsing and writing. In just a year's time, the band had gained a loyal following thanks in part to the synergy of their energetic live performances and a popular disc, Makeshift Gods. At the behest of Blisters, the group has currently retreated to Fargo, ND to regroup and work on new material.
