Stone Groove was originally formed back in the winter of 1999. Originally, a four piece with band founders Craig Chapman, Christian Gossard, Scott Boyd, and Craig Powers. A year later Stone Groove starting gaining a bigger fanbase and moving outwards from their homebase of London. Around 2002 Stone Groove added a young lead guitar player named Spencer Elliott and his friend Brian Johns playing the keyboards. During this lineup Stone Groove played even bigger shows opening up for bands such as Dave Matthews, OAR, Ekoostik Hookah... to name a few. This lineup continued until summer of 2005 when Spencer and Brian parted ways and are currently doing amazing things in the fields of country music and classical respectfully. Craig Powers left the band in 2002 but since has came back ... during his departure we had local legend Matt Dunham playing bass who is currently playing with Columbus Heavy Metal Band "POLARIS" and also Nat Reeb formerly of The Mullins Band and now Screamin' Peaches fame.
So then in August of 2005 Bill Kurzenberger played his first show with Stone Groove at Legend Valley's "Valleyfest" and the current incarnation was born. The current lineup consists of Craig Chapman (vocals and guitar), Bill Kurzenberger (vocals and keyboards, Rob Shingler (harmonica), Craig Powers (bass guitar) and Christian Gossard (drums).
Playing a nice blend of blues driven rock mixed with a touch of psychedelia, bluegrass, hard rock, and more Stone Groove has always tried to remain open and diverse in their ever increasing list of Original and Cover Songs.
Stone Groove continues to tour in and around the Central Ohio area and sometimes beyond playing bigger festivals such as Comfest, Tabfest, Hookahville, P-Town Blow Out Bash, Rockin Ridge Resort, Legend Valley, and more. With the ten year mark fast approaching Stone Groove continues to hold its place amongst the regions best talents and will continue to perform for many years to come.
