Silence and Echoes is the songwriting collaboration of Oxford based musicians, singer/songwriter Dave Oakes and guitarist Ryan Robinson.
United by a mutual feeling of musical frustration, the duo initially met and exchanged song ideas over the internet, immediately becoming good friends. After hearing a short sketch of a song composed by Dave entiteld "Bonjour", Ryan asked Dave's permission to adapt and re-interpret the track. Dave agreed, and within an hour Ryan returned and presented him with "Welcome". Dave was extremely impressed by Ryan's work, and felt the song had completed what he had wanted to achieve for a long time.
The two began to hold their meetings and have their musical exchanges in person, and immediately set to work writing and recording new material. After deciding to operate under a collaborative name, "Silence and Echoes" was formed, and through the mutual exchange of their two talents, set to work creating a joint vision of their music.
