About Me
The Short and Skinny of it---- I started out in a country rock band in Santa Barbara Calif.. did that 2 weeks and said "I'm outtie".. Went to Germany (Munchen)... Had band "Strange Fruit" with Peter Schneider.... Later--Went to States....Did single on own lable called "Loose Screw".. Was Reviewed by Kris Needs, of Dance Music Report.. He Suggested i start rap group... Did that with DJ Lady Skil, and Renee Lee... Later went to London....Met up with Kris Needs who was now back at home... in Aylesbury U.K. I started recording with Arron Freidman,, and writing with a bunch of Kris's friends like Youth, and Guy Pratt (Pink Floyd). Put out "I don't wanna b alone tonight,", which landed on Robert Owens label...Kris was getting into Techno at this time.. At first I thought he had lost his bleeding mind.. But he took me to the Drum Club/Heaven on the other side... and I was hooked.. I took Kris into the studio with me to Arron Friedmans and we Secret Knowledge was born.. Our first track was "Make me Scream", which latter landed on Tribal Records in the states, and "Your worst nightmare", was on the other side... Kris (also journalist for NME, Melody Maker, later Mojo) went to interview Andrew Weatherall.. Played him our track which he liked so much that he wanted us to do one for him.. First was "Oh Baby". It would be the first record I heard Pete Tong play from us.. Saying my voice was the sexist thing he had heard since Madonna. Jah Wobble play's bass on it. ........ Then "Sugar Daddy", Came out Sabers of Paradise label, No. 007. Alan McGee (owner of Creation Records, told me that he had it playing on his answer machine, when I met him.............Sugar Daddy was a club hit... and now known as a club classic.. John Digweed put it on his "Choice- A Collection of Classics" Album.. Along side Jody Watley, Saint Etienne, Underworld, The Cure and a host of others...Then Leftfield heard that, and they wanted a track for " Hard Hands" label. We went in as Delta Lady and recorded "Anything you want", and later "Swamp Fever".. It all took off from there.. Mixes of these tracks were done by Paul VanDyke, Derrick Carter, Josh Wink, David Holmes/w Ashley Beedle, Ralph Lawson for Back to Basics in Leeds, Gavin Hardkiss, and Scott Hardkiss, to Mention a few......We did remixes under the Secret Knowledge banner... for groups such as One Dove, Malcom Mclaren, Crystal Method, Primal Scream and others...Eddie Fowlkes from the Detroit scene and I collaborated. Kris and Irv Welsh (who wrote the book/movie Trainspotting), formed a group called "Hibee Nation", which myself, Sahara Jane, and Henny Cullen, aka D.A.V.E the drummer, were in. Man, Irv sure loves Disco.. I also had the pleasure of working with Ben Watkins and Tracie Lords.. We wrote "Control".. Which came out on Tracie's debut record of the same name. It went on to land itself on the "Mortal Combat" soundtrack... Selling over 2 million records.. for which we became a Platinum Record.......We DJ's at The Sunday Social, Back to Basic's in Leeds among others.. Kris would also be the tour DJ for Primal Scream, and The Prodigy..We performed live at Clubs all over the world... Like "Back to Basic's", "Ministry of Sound", club "Paradiso" in Amsterdam.".Sankeys Soap..", "The Arches ", in Glasgow, San Diego Convention center.. with 10,000 people.. The largest party San Diego has ever seen.. loved the Brixton Academy, and so on... and the party is not over yet... so let's carry on dammit.........
