What I Do:
Back in the Midlands now after spending the last 4 years in Falmouth, Cornwall (possibly one of the best places on the planet) doing a degree in Graphic Design.
These are some of the things I did while I was there:
Got good at design. This is subject to opinion ofcourse - but I did spend 4 years trying - so lets hope so. You can view my work (and get your own opinion of it) on my personal website, Design Eats People . I also won an award there too! My short interactive film, Sunday Bench, won the Delabole Slate Audience Award for Best Student Film at the Cornwall Film Festival 2005 - check me (click this link and scroll down the list until you see my name, then select the film).
I was also a singer in a band called Audiosoup in my first two years at Uni. We made a CD and played some gigs around Falmouth and made people sing and dance. Then when the Audiosoup boys graduated and left - me and the lovely singer Inga-Lill joined Chinatown and continued making funky beats around Cornwall!! Long live da funk!
Took a year out in the middle of my degree to work as an actor for Miracle Theatre , it was a far from glamorous experience but I loved it. Def up for doing more acting in the future...
In my second year at UCF, I set up a live music night called RawPlug , which originally operated as an open-mic night, and then grew into a showcase. I eventually got 11 different acts into Troubador Studio and made a compilation CD, which we sold 60 copies of. Check out the new RawPlug trailer
Note: Jack Milne from Kinky Charlie, who passed away recently, is featured in this video. Jack played at RawPlug quite a few times and will be greatly missed from the Falmouth music community. My best regards to anyone who knows him and watches this trailer. RIP Jack
Also got all eco and ethical while I was in Kernow and set up an organisation called
Minus-Equals-Plus, which is aimed at promoting important issues like sustainability to young people. We've published two magazines and have carried out a whole load of silly campaigns to get the common folk to wake up to the bigger problems out there. We recently featured on Adbusters, in the MetroUK paper and on EC1 FM for our 'Buy Nothing Day' efforts - crazy times.
I'm also a bit of a b-boy at heart and breakdance with the 3C'S Crew whenever I'm down in good old Kernow! "Bring It Back - That Old Nu School Rap!"
Just started a new design job at ArthurSteenHorneAdamson (ASHA) - which I am very pleased with myself about - oh yes indeed!!!
