I am here for Friends

About Me

Denise Hennessey: I was just under the impression that I deserved the best. And he's out there - he's just with all the wrong women, and after centuries of men staring at my tits instead of my eyes and pinching my ass as opposed to shaking my hand, I have the divine, well-earned right to stare at a man's ass in vulgar delight!

My Interests

There really isn't anything I'm not interested in. I love music, books, and movies. I love, Love, LOVE to travel. I don't play any sports, but I like watching football and basketball. I don't understand the intrigue of golf (or the necessity of a tv channel dedicated to it). Thanks to Sabrina and my sister, Monica I have an unhealthy obsession with arts & crafts that, quite frankly, scares me into thinking I'm getting old before my time.

I'd like to meet:

Real people who aren't concerned about impressing anyone and who know how to laugh at their own stupidity. 'Cause let's face it, we're all pretty stupid, right?

Music:

I love all kinds of music. There pretty much isn't anything I wouldn't listen to. Except for maybe hard core country. At the moment, I love listening to Green Day, Led Zeppelin, Janis Joplin, AC/DC, Blondie, Pixies, Gavin Degraw, Tristan Prettyman (Awesome San Diego musician), The Ataris, The Ramones, Dashboard Confessional, John Mayer, Cake, Aerosmith (they kick ass), Guns n Roses, The Clash, Joan Jett, Kyle Phelan (another good San Diego artist), Garbage, Sugarcult, Incubus, Pat Benatar (Love her stuff!), Sara Bareilles (VEGAS is now my official theme song), The Pierces, anything that was in the soundtrack to an 80's Molly Ringwald movie and Justin Timberlake (kind of a guilty pleasure, I know, but I can't help myself). I could go on forever, but I'll leave it there for now.

Movies:

I can't talk about movies without mentioning my all time favorite actor: James Dean. Hands down, one of the best actors ever born. I love Rebel Without A Cause. It gets me every time. Ferris Bueller's Day Off, Kill Me Later, Before Sunrise and Sunset, Love Me If You Dare, Ocean's 11, Bourne Identity, Fight Club (but the book was better), Snatch, Juno, Goonies and anything with John Cusack. I'll pretty much watch anything, unless the humor runs to the ridiculously stupid, and then I just can't be bothered. Oh, and I love the movie French Kiss. I could quote that movie all day. And I have!

Television:

Okay, I confess! I love watching Supernatural. Jensen Ackles is hot, what can I say? CSI kicks ass, and I hate that it's on as the same time as Grey's Anatomy. I love Entourage. And I DVR Bones, or Prison Break if I have to miss them. Heroes, October Road, Paranormal State, Friday Night Lights and Criminal Minds are pretty awesome, too.

Books:

The one book I can never live without is Franny & Zooey. I've read it about a million times and my copy is seriously worn out. The only other book I've read that often is Fight Club by Chuck Palahniuk. I can't read any of his other stuff, but I'm addicted to this one. I love the Shakespeare comedies, but I can't stand the tragedies (I hate Romeo & Juliet, so please don't stereotype me). And if I want a good scare, I'll read something by Stephen King or Dean Koontz.

Heroes:

I know it sounds corny, but my younger cousin Melanie is one of the strongest people I've ever known and probably the bravest. Not many people could experience what she's gone through and still have a beautiful soul. And of course, my parents, without whom, I wouldn't be alive, or know how to appreciate being alive. List of Shame

Okay, so it’s been a while since I’ve posted anything. Mostly because I haven’t really had anything going on, and because I figured no one’s really paying attention. If you do ...

Do Over

So... I've done something I'm not entirely sure was the right thing to do. I'm back at the beginning. I've done a do over. Why? 'Cause I was pretty certain I couldn't hack it. I was so certain in fact...

Extolling the virtues of retail therapy

Okay, so some of you may mock me for this, but I really do find relief in retail therapy. When the world has become one massively horrible, mortifying, no good, very bad day, a little something cute o...

Killing Time

For a while now, I've been going through the motions. Just killing time, I guess. Waiting for whatever it was I was suppose to be waiting for. Waiting till I figured out what I want to do with my life...

Not quite what I was expecting

Okay, so maybe I was a little off expecting some big life altering change when I moved (like the move itself wasn't life altering already), but I was in no way expecting what I got. I'm bored and lone...

Week 2 of My New Life (or My Life as a Desperate Housewife)

Okay, so obviously my plans have changed since my last blog. Instead of leaving the weekend of the 19th, I ended up leaving home on the 15th, which took away the extra week I thought I had to pack. Ca...
