About Me

Ecki explained...Although influenced by the likes of Ben Harper, John Martyn, Richard Thompson, Rosie Thomas and Shawn Colvin, Ecki's songwriting is infused with a very distinctive flavour that's all its own.Originally hailing from Suffolk, Ecki consistently refuses to accept labels being placed on his brand of singer-songwriting, instead electing to realise his ideas and commit them to tape, beginning with his debut release, Punchdrunk.Such ideas have been perfected via gigs in and around London and his last hometown of Cambridge, together with performances at the Cambridge Folk Festival and for Tom Robinson and BBC 6 Music, and Punchdrunk captures the desire and spirit of such performances, as underlined by early reviews: 'An album of subdued elegant beauty... and a confident and assured debut album that's sure to be the start of something very special indeed' (www.ukmusicsearch.co.uk) and Ecki is clearly a man whose muse operates primarily in shades of blue but that includes open sky as well as dark, oceanic depths. A promising debut. Andy Gill, The Independent. As well as Punchdrunk, a large chunk of Ecki's previous work is already in the public domain. A freelance photographer of some renown, his work has featured in publications such as Karrang, Drummer, Sound on Sound, Play Music, Guitarist and Rhythm, and high-profile commissions have included The Darkness, Feeder, Ash, Bloc Party, McFly, The Polyphonic Spree, Status Quo, The Magic Numbers, Jet and My Chemical Romance ensuring that he's very much in demand irrespective of whether he's behind or in front of the lens. ..mspobj type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowScriptAccess="never" allowNetworking="internal" height="355" width="425"
