About Me

Vocal improviser of ethereal soundscapes, composer, and illustrator. Linda Laasi (Laar'zee), of Estonian, Czech/German origin, draws inspiration from indigenous singing cultures from around the world, nature, animals, wind chimes, bees, other high pitched unidentified sounds.
ARIA Award Winner for her contribution to the original soundtrack of Australian feature film ‘Jindabyne’ with Paul Kelly and Dan Luscombe. Vocal soundscape composition was used on award winning ABC TV promo with the Tibetan Monks, Messagestick (ABC TV), "Aurora Calling" radio play (ABC Radio National), and are featured on following recordings: 'A Poet's History of Australia' (ABC), 'Cosmosis' by Dean Frenkel (Move Records), 'Four Shakuhachi Meditations' by Andrew MacGregor (Inner Peace), 'Bliss' by The Eternal Choir, '44sunsets' by Soteria Bell www.myspace.com/44sunsetsounds. These recordings have been played on ABC Classic FM, ABC Radio National, ABC Arts Sunday programme and 3RRR radio. Festival performances include Womadelaide World Music Festival, Maldon Folk Festival, Melbourne a'Capella Festival and Daylesford Singers Festival, Apollo Bay Music Festival.
The CD 'Magic Sounds' (released May 2008) by Dean Frenkel (harmonic overtone singer) and Linda Laasi, features harmonic resonance and is a music journey of sacred sounds, uplifting soundscapes and original composition. These compositions include wordless vocals and harmonic overtones, quartz crystal singing bowls and didgeridoo.
