About Me

I'm not as funny as I think I am.

My Interests

Very spicy food, frisbee, mythology, bicycling, talking

I'd like to meet:

Folks who are culturally sensitive enough to know how to pronounce most words and names they read. I try and like everybody but it's easiest to like people who are accountable to themselves. But I'm prone to a Ricklesian dyspepticism that attracts me to people I don't like, too. Everybody our age says they're a pop culture encyclopedia but I have a hard time finding people to talk with who understand why the opening shot of Good Night, and Good Luck is so beautiful with the breathy Ben Websterish rendition of "When I Fall In Love" (though nobody does that song better than Bill Evans) and the way hard working people approached glamour and vanity in the 50s. I guess that's fetishizing old shit more than understanding every reference Dennis Miller and Bill Simmons make, but it's all one big continuum and I don't know shinola about official media criticism I just know the way my parents learned how to get gussied up from their parents and it must have been important if they were gonna leave me and my brothers for the night and certain books and movies and songs they spoke about so reverently seemed important too, so I felt compelled to understand that stuff and I know I'm not alone in this feeling but here I am, 32 and cyber-groping for similar cannons of curiosity.
