Anders Flodin

Anders Flodin (b. 1961, Örebro, Sweden) started playing the piano with Lydia Makarowa. Between 1980-1982 he began his studies in composition with Sune Smedeby and piano with Lennart Ågren at Kävesta Folkhögskola. After his degree (MFA) in Music Education at the Örebro university in 1987, he continued, 1987-1989, his studies in composition at the Norwegian State Academy of Music under Olav Anton Thommessen and in 1989-1990 at the Dekanát Hudobnej Faculty Vysorej Skoly Muzickych Umeni in Bratislava (Vladimír Bokes) and 1993 at the Akademie Múzickych Umeni Hudebni Fakulta in Prague (Svatopluk Havelka). During a couple of years between 1985-1990 he returned to summer courses, arranged by Conserts Sweden, at Nordens Folkhögskola Biskops-Arnö for studies in composition and electro-acoustic music under Jan W Morthenson and Rolf Enström. Since 1995 he is a member of the Society of Swedish Composers and the Swedish Composers International Music Bureau.His music has been performed in Sweden and abroad and he has collaborated with excellent soloists, ensembles and orchestras.Anders Flodin is a lecturer in music theory and composition at Örebro University, School of Music. He wrote his thesis "I gränslandet mellan not och ton - notbilden i nykomponerad musik" about the interaction between composition, notation and interpretation and what occurs between the fields with an extended notation.
