Appearances in venues such as Portland’s Lincoln Hall, São Paulo’s MASP Concert Hall and Tirandente’s Yves Alves Theater, have received critical and public acclaim. Vincens graduated from the Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais in Brazil. He completed his masters degree at the renown guitar department of the University of Arizona, under the guidance of Professor Thomas Patterson.A versatile musician, Guilherme Vincens has expertise in popular and classical music alike, having recorded with the group Nono Osso and the Péricles Garcia Band. Among other chamber groups, he performs regularly with the flute and guitar “Duo Tramanduá”. He also composed the music for the film “O lenço” directed by Alexandre Mendes and collaborated with cellist Harry Clark in “Still Life”, a play produced by Chamber Music Plus at the Arizona Theater Company.He has won several prestigious awards such as the 1st Prize in the 2003 Portland International Guitar Competition, the 2nd prize in the 2001 Souza Lima Competition in São Paulo and the “Jovens Solistas” Competition in Belo Horizonte, Brazil. Recently, he was selected among guitarists from all over the world to represent his country at the “XXXI Concurso Internacional de Ejecución Musical Dr. Luis Sigall” in Chile and also at the “III Concurso Internacional Joaquín Rodrigo” in Spain.Vincens has performed in the master classes of several world-class artists including John Williams, Pepe Romero, David Russell, Paul O'dette, Paul Galbraith and Sérgio and Odair Assad.Currently he resides in Tucson, where he is pursuing his doctorate at the University of Arizona under the sponsorship of the Capes/FULBRIGHT program and has an active teaching and performing schedule.

Sounds Like: .. Performing Frevo By Egberto Gismonti (arranged by Ulisses Rocha) in the Finals of the 4th Thomas Beeston Competition 2006... Performing Zapateado by Joaquin Rodrigo in the finals of the same competition. I got 3rd prize, by the way... (Don't like competitions... Who does anyway..? The winners I guess...)
