We have it inside us somewhere, inevitably expanding. Creativity, the voice of change.
I was born in Los Feliz CA.
My mom was a psychologist and my dad was an actor. That's right, one was trying to be someone else while the other one was trying to help others find themselves. Opposites attract? No, opposites divorce. One of my first memories was seeing my dad in a play called "See How They Run", with one turn of his head he made people laugh so hard they cried. I was sold. A couple years later at the ripe age of six, I was in my first play, "Peter and the Wolf". I was the wolf, its amazing how clear I can remember being carried through the audience after Peter killed me, everybody's fingers running down my furry, lifeless body.
A year or two later my mom met an English version of Tony Soprano, married and we all moved to Santa Fe NM. I remember the first school I went to, I was determined to be the president of D.A.R.E. I worked diligently on writing and perfecting my speech for a week. I thought I was a shoe in because I had heard that my competition (Nicole Brown) smoked pot. I nailed my detailed page and a half speech and walked off stage, receiving a scattered half hearted applause. Nicole got up to the podium and said,"I wanna be president because huh....it would be cool." The kids gave her a standing ovation and she won. A couple days later, I smoked my first joint. When I turned fourteen my step dad, out of anger, told me a terrifying story of a detailed execution of a father and a son. I was sent to New York immediately to be with my father while my mom got her second divorce. The bright side was I was accepted to the New York High school of Performing arts, and ended up stage managing (at 14) an off off Broadway Magic show called "Jarrett Parker's Altered Reality Tour". Now I'm working on my own altered reality tour...
